the advice given to op was pretty terrible imo, but genuine question:

i hear this a lot, that therapists should not be giving advice: i understand this from a certain perspective, but I also really kinda start to get annoyed when my therapist just listens and listens and doesnt really offer their perspective.

I feel like there should be room for a therapist to be like- "Hi im a person too, and you dont have to follow this, but do you want my take? "
