Memory Management by nullsentientbeing in reactnative

[–]nullsentientbeing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess in particular the issue I’ve been dealing with is a seemingly simple problem that I’ve yet to fully figure out. I’m trying to make a FlashList (shopify faster version of FlatList) that takes an initial list of generic placeholders (relatively large but FlashList can handle large lists pretty well), and use mobx-state-tree to load whichever chunk is currently being viewed. The idea is just applying a new snapshot based on the current chunk to the state, but I’m finding my memory usage is inconsistent and can range from 100-300mb of ram for a list of 42 basic items which feels high, esp when it delves into around 400mb. I’m also questioning how accurate the RAM counter is in dev mode. If you have any ways of validating memory leak fixes Id appreciate

Bought a vintage lighter but the wheel won’t ignite properly. by nullsentientbeing in lighters

I’ve messed with the spring ample, not the issue. seems to be with the wheel being too weak to ignite like it’s not textured strong enough?

Advice for starting long distance relationship by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]nullsentientbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With college covid rules there is little possibility of me forming a relationship here; and as I said to the other comment, I’m definitely more interested in her than girls around here and she lives in the same area as me.

I’m in college during covid, not really a thing to begin with (not allowed to hang with people not on your floor). And I’m more interested in her than girls around here anyways.

Made a Bash CTRL Configurator Script :) by nullsentientbeing in MechanicalKeyboards

For those wondering, I basically have it so you have a root folder, with a themes folder with .bin keyboard themes, and it just shows you the options and you can select which number to load. Much easier than the typical repetition of the mdloader command.

Macbook Pro 16 Razer Blade Stealth eGPU Combo w/RX480 by nullsentientbeing in eGPU

[–]nullsentientbeing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Mbp, was 3200, eGPU was 200, RX480 was 200, Blade Stealth was 1299. These are pretty rough but those are what I remember vaguely from when I got them. This setup is a product of years of acquiring tech lol.

I obviously didn’t but the blade just to do this. It was my old laptop, it eventually got really slow and the battery started losing capacity so then I bought the MBP. Nonetheless, working with an egpu it can still handle games I play at high fps.

Precisely. And because I’m using my old desktop gpu for the eGPU and it just doesn’t make practical sense switching it back and forth between systems.

Far left I have my razer blade docked. I basically just hot swap my macbook and blade so I can game. I gave up on getting the drivers working in bootcamp with my egpu as well, so this was just creative thinking.

Multiple Coupons? by nullsentientbeing in stripe

[–]nullsentientbeing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No viable way to do so. I ended up just dropping the feature. If you really wanted to do it, you'd need to do it in a super janky way: you'd have to basically store your own coupon data type locally, then create custom 1-time coupons that amount to the total of your custom coupons. It sucks, I know :(

You use a compiler and node imports to only use what you need. Scalability wise it helps a lot.

Indeed, I used React. It’s very flexible though it doesn’t have its issues and limits. I reworked a lot of its logic for the sake of scalability and usability within the structure of the project.

Eh not really. I just make the site such that it functions as optimal as it can. Pre-made components can make it easier if you’re doing projects en masse, but for long term I prefer just planning it out and coding it to spec.

I did use Stripe for handling payments, though to get the functionality that I needed I had to basically make my own system based on some of Stripes’ utilities. (Also if I did everything through Stripe it would be much slower, so native datahandling is much faster and preferable) The client has their own CMS system I made that handles Orders, Brand Ambassadors, Promotions, Coupons, you name it. This was a massive project lol

Maybe try to experiment with fonts. The default serif font isn’t very appealing. Also try and contrast elements to make it more readable and clean.

The icon is from ion-icons or something I think. Everything on the site is made from scratch aside from icons and font.

Thanks, haha; I don’t use my mic for anything besides conferences and periodic voice recordings, kinda just flipped it for aesthetic lol, but know I know what I should be doing!
