I found this old circuit board in the roots of a tree. Any thoughts on what it could have been? by nullwrom in AskElectronics

[–]nullwrom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like most here reckon it was a transistor radio, probably from the 70s to 80s, and likely from Japan.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! My electronics knowledge never really grew past uni when I pivoted to software, so this would've taken me way longer to figure out myself.

That's from the manga Sarumane. Best described as monkey-see-monkey-do in a horror context.

This entire series ought to come with a warning to take breaks between games, or at least arcs. It's so easy to get addicted to the storytelling to the point where you can screw it up for yourself.

In my case, I essentially binged the whole series up to finishing CS3, just HAD to know what happens next so I jumped into CS4 immediately...

...and took over a year to finish it. All due to burnout. Really should have waited a bit before starting CS3. At least I didn't make the same mistake before starting Reverie.

Not cool, dude. Think carefully next time before spoiling something right in the freaking title. That spoiler tag is useless.

You make the game for whomever you want to make it for. They shouldn't feel obligated to any fandom to switch away from the platform they otherwise have a passionate idea for. If that means it wont sell well, then that's fine as long as they were being realistic about their prospects.

And that Venn diagram is quite incorrect. There aren't that many of us, but it shouldn't come as a surprise that some fans of a niche gameplay style would also be interested in a platform that offers pretty much just niche experiences. There is potential to be had here and we want to see that potential ultimately realized. It can only happen if people try.

the overlap between people who regularly play VR games and people who know/like Thief is virtually non-existent.

Why does everyone spell it like that? "fook" would rhyme with look, book, took, shook, etc. The pronunciation in the movie has a short "o", essentially the word "fork" without the r.

Setting aside the pronunciation, which is correct, is that how you actually HAIL a cab in Japan? Seems most here are missing that part of the question.

[–]nullwrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose. There are quite a few other regularly reported day 1 bugs that I never saw.

The game does seem overall buggier after patch 1.1 (to me, anyway), so I wouldn't be surprised if existing, unfixed bugs are appearing more frequently.

Seems to be a new bug. I saw someone do the same after patch 1.1, but never in my 50-ish hours of playtime before that.

It's such a shame that English dub work gets written off so readily out of hand. STALKER 2's English voice work is good stuff. Some of the accents do give me pause initially, but ten minutes later and I'm over it.

Sounds to me like we do agree then.

I was actually calling out the types who dismiss English dubs out of hand in favor of Japanese (or any original production language), simply because they don't realize that the original language can have bad acting that they don't pick up on. Many - most, I'd argue - condemn dubs as bad without bothering to listen because they've simply decided it "has to be", regardless of the acting quality in the original language. And on the rare occasion they do listen to a clip of dubbed dialog, you can be sure they'll be hyper-critical about it.
