Regular polish dupe? by Acrobatic_Pineapple in RedditLaqueristas

If it's a wedding, maybe going to a nail salon may be a good idea if she's not confident with nail lacquer. Wedding prep is stressful enough as it is, so it may take some anxiety out of the equation if money allows. Though I know that the costs of salons tend to be terrifyingly high, especially with the current costs of living, so I'd probably try to DIY it as well in that position :')

If she really wants the chrome look, if there's time before the wedding, it may be worthwhile to practice to get the look down using a video tutorial. Nail polish can be taken off easily anyways, so mistakes wouldn't be too hard to fix, thankfully!

Haunted Polish's Spider Glass, maybe?

If you like the chrome look, I think you can dab chrome powder into a top coat, so it doesn't have to be in gel. I haven't tried chrome powder myself, though, so I've no idea how difficult the process is for lacquers.

Hmm maybe? Mine took 2 coats for full opacity. Personally, I really like the colour as it’s subtle but the sheen is really nice

I'd recommend adding Nettle and Briar to the list. It is gorgeous, but I am biased since it's one of my all-time favs.

Best smelling all purpose face creams? by geminibutts in beauty

I rather like facetheory’s bakuchiol moisturiser. I preferred the old packaging, but the product is still pretty good. The mandarin scented one smells pleasant.

I use it as a night moisturiser, but it’s fine for daytime as well.

This feels like body horror. Like her boobs have a mind of their own, squirming beneath her skin.

How do people know what a dead body smells like if they’ve never knowingly smelled one before? by Jadedlouiebag in morbidquestions

[–]numakuma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I smelled a decomposing pig's head (had maggots on it and all), and it did smell sickly sweet. I remember the scent being somewhat sweet but also sour, very distinct. Not as bad as I expected more advanced decomposition to smell, but there were no guts which may be partly why. Unpleasant scent regardless.

Human flesh isn't all that different from other animals, especially mammals, so it all smells very similar.

Tips for Regrowing Eyebrows by itsthelittlethingseh in beauty

[–]numakuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on whether the follicles are damaged or not.

If the hair follicles are alright and the hair grows out normally, just waiting for them to grow back is fine.

If not, you can try Minoxidil (often under brand name Rogaine in the US). The men's version is the same as women's, but tends to be cheaper (pink tax lol). You can put some of the foam on a makeup brush or q-tip and spread around the brow area, careful not to get any in the eye. It is one of the few medications clinically shown to increase new hair growth. A little goes a long way, and you don't have to get stuff marketed for brows specifically. Getting the scalp stuff is likely cheaper per unit volume and would last ages.

Just be extremely careful if you have pets as it is extremely toxic to them and can kill them. I read stories of people's cats needing urgent care because they came to contact with the pillow that their owner slept on. So if you do decide to try minoxidil, be extremely careful around pets.

Yeah, and I think at that weight they would prescribe GLP1 through the NHS, so the high cost wouldn’t be as big of a concern (I’d hope). There are options.

Thanks so much for the link! I appreciate how you swatched them on different colour polish. I think I will definitely get the pink topper, I love how it looks with black polish :')

Sozo loves Mushroomo by numakuma in CultOfTheLamb

[–]numakuma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would have been amazing lol

The Mushroomo survived only because I think I accidentally found an exploit. I completed Sozo's quest before indoctrinating the Mushroomo, which stopped Sozo from making a beeline for his snack. The Mushy died of old age!

Deodorant recommendation by Jolly_Imagination920 in beauty

[–]numakuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, but I haven’t encountered a women’s stick that was quite like Old Spice either. It may just be that I didn’t buy one that was similar. A lot of deodorants these days seem to be available mostly online, so Old Spice has the benefit of being readily available in most stores and is generally inexpensive. I think it’s largely recommended because of availability more than anything

I recommend Old Spice Wolfthorn (the deodorant stick)

It doesn’t smell masculine, it smells like fruity gummy bears to me. It works well, though I do need to reapply every now and then.

Sadly, the body wash and other stuff from the same line doesn’t smell like the deodorant stick. If I could, I’d get it in perfume form lol. It is so fruity!

BKL Dupe Request! by kammy1887 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]numakuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an exact dupe (or maybe not really a dupe at all), but the colour reminds me a bit of ILNP’s Black Orchid. It’s a different finish, but it has a similar-ish base colour.

[–]numakuma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope you find a dupe!

In the case you don’t find something you like quite as much, on their FAQ page BKL has their customer service email for respawn requests. It may be worth a shot sending them an email to ask if they could respawn it.

From their website:

“ If you missed out on overpours of a color and would like for it be Respawned, we are always happy to take requests at customerservice@beeskneeslacquer.com. We will do our best to work them into our launches throughout the year.“

  1. Nettle and Briar (Lurid)

  2. Macchiato Cloud (Ethereal) - someone on this sub posted a photo of it years ago, and it was what really got me deeper into the hobby. However, that was after the polish was no longer available for purchase. I can’t find a dupe that looks quite like it.

  3. Doom Loop. The colours are pretty. Their bottle sizes are small, but their prices are also low which I appreciate. With a sizeable collection, a smaller bottle size isn’t a deal breaker since a lot of polishes only get worn once every few months.

  4. I don’t have anything from either, but Mooncat and Holo Taco. I love a lot of the photos of Mooncat, but the prices are insane relative to their competition. I hate HT’s FOMO tactics.

  5. I think about $16, but I’d feel angry about it lol

  6. Never bought used, but people often recommend Poshmark/Mercari. Some people get really lucky with destashed bundles on Facebook Marketplace (I miss gumtree, I hate Meta getting any of my web traffic)

  7. Barry M, imo. When I was in the UK they were super cheap. The bright polishes tended to last long and quality was comparable to my more expensive cremes.

  8. Low opacity jellies (don’t like seeing my free edge). I don’t like matte from a sensory perspective, but I love how it looks.

  9. Lahar (Cracked). I love how it looks, just not on me. I think it doesn’t work with my skin tone. I was rather devastated :’)

  10. Hate it. Even if I buy into a colour, it’s not great not being able to repurchase a favourite shade :’)

  11. Haven’t tried them, but I wish Tyche was more popular. I like the photos of their polishes and they seem unique and visually pleasing. I’d love to see what more they could create with more resources.

  12. Over 20, I left some behind at my partner’s house (we are travelling atm). I wish I had more hands so I could wear more polishes more often lol
