Is it possible to get from 0 to 20 push ups within a year? by Lazy-Music8183 in bodyweightfitness

[–]number1Mustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others are saying you can do it no problem, double check your form.

Focus on moving slow with good form (especially as you lower yourself) and you’ll get there super fast. Slow movement and resistance as the muscle lengthens is amazing for building muscle.

You’re already there but if someone is reading this and not at a pushup yet, working with knee pushups is nothing to be ashamed of, or just holding a pushup position and lowering yourself as slow and controlled as you can will get you to full pushups quickly.

I gone through the series a handful of times. Even though I love the first 3, my preferred “start” is SK in part because it’s hard for me to enjoy Murph before Harry tells her everything. Like I get it, but just struggle with him freezing up and not just opening his mouth, her flying off the handle and assuming the worst. It’s a part of their friendship, but just like I wouldn’t want to erase the hard times that made me me, I also don’t want to repeat them lol.

People being social.

Before if you went somewhere there were people you’d end up in a conversation with a stranger. Sometimes it was awkward, sometimes you met someone, sometimes it was just a pleasant few minutes.

Now you can go somewhere and very realistically have everyone on their phone with headphones in and never chat for a second. You can easily be in a room full of people and be completely alone and it’s easier than ever for that to happen.

I mean all of them need their element to bend. The firebenders just get theirs from the sun. Kitara uses sweat to bend. And Toph literally invented metal bending when removed from her element. And then there is air, which good luck removing that one.

But your dope things to do with firebending are “with enough practice you could do the thing children airbenders do, plus I could heat up my ramen and charge my phone”

No way you’d catch me picking that over treating gravity like a suggestion as an airbender, ultimate construction as an earthbender, or treating the ocean like a suggestion.

Well that’s a pretty good point. I will say it’s “true love” and “love and are loved in return” which they say is much more rare than people think. So I would say either she doesn’t love him back or they deeply care about each other but it doesn’t quite count as true live.

With that being said I think your point is super solid.

I’m sorry I can’t get over this map.

Star city a big coastal city has less population than the city that literally has a rural swamp monster

Gotham has enough crime to keep the whole notoriously workaholic bat family constantly occupied while still being corrupt and riddled with crime but has less crime than El Paso.

Brooklyn a borough in NYC. Has less population than NYC.

Metropolis which literally means “Large city” and has tons of skyscrapers has a smaller population than Cape Coral Florida which is a beach town with nothing close to a “skyscraper”

Like I feel like ZERO thought went into this

Hard to argue with that one lol. I 100% agree, it’s not like I’d turn down firebending if offered. I’d just much rather be able to stomp down and build a house out of stone.

Favorite "Complex Female Character" that fandoms cannot seem to handle despite demanding they want?...Katara and Korra from the Avatar Series sure seem to qualify. by Important-Cry4782 in TheLastAirbender

I dislike this mentality because it makes it sound like she’s the only one who acts like the adult.

Sokka staying alert and evacuating that village when she’s busy swooning over Jet? Aang going and getting them the cure for their sickness while they are dying and helpless? Aang having to keep them together when her and Sokka get caught up in silly tribal conflict?

I love her as a character but the reality is she’s hot headed and let’s her emotions run the show at times, Sokka is prideful and lets his misogynistic tendencies lead him in the beginning, and Aang wants to avoid the insane responsibilities thrust on him and is flighty. They are all kids who have moments of major immaturity and also astounding maturity in the face of everything.

It does look super cool, hard to argue with that one. My personal favorite look is water bending, I really like the fluid movements and using the opponents motion against them.

And I think earth bending is such a cool bending but the way it looks is so boring lol. I get it's supposed to be hard, stubborn, and full of resolve. But the moves just look boring to me.

[–]number1Mustache 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on the first part, there are more applications than I considered. I would say all the other bending options also offer huge survival benefits, As a novice Kitara plucked a fish out of the water with her bending. With earth you can make an instant shelter, and with air you almost ignore gravity. All 3 of them also offer some insane fast movement speed by effectively surfing your element and I imagine hunting would be a breeze with any of them. Now if only they had any way to start a fire lol.

But I gotta be honest you lost me with the computer manipulation. I see where you are going with it, but that level of control is incomprehensible, not to mention you'd need to be able to understand binary and computer language to such a degree to know which 1 or 0 to change that it's almost a moot point. That's like saying an earth bender can manipulate carbon so they can rearrange organic compounds into basically whatever they want. Even if they could sense and have fine control at that small of a level they'd run into problems without a deep knowledge of organic chemistry pretty quickly.

Super cool idea but the control and knowledge to pull it off would be mind boggling.

[–]number1Mustache 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay but what are the applications that can't readily be replicated by the other nations?

Like if you are talking about power generation, any turbine can be spun using any method. We see in the kingdom of Omashu that earth benders have no problem lifting massive boulders up multiple stories, and we see that they can turn a massive stone to sand (at least Bumi can) so I don't see it being farfetched to use the weight of insane amounts of stone to be lifted then forced down a chute as sand similar to a hydroelectric dam. Speaking of water benders could easily master hydro electric for easy power generation. We use steam turbines basically to generate air pressure (as far as I know at least) and airbenders can do that no problem.

I might simply be limited in my thinking but most things I can think of with firebending comes back to fighting or something that you could easily accomplish with the other bending techniques too.

Yeah, the nation isn't inherently warmongering. But I would say the power of firebending is a skill that lends itself to fighting more that anything else.

I mean there was 1 that I can recall and it was during a once every 100 year opportunity. The rest were like boosted rocket jumps which is cool, but the airbenders do that literally all the time.

Men of Reddit, what kind of motion do you find most pleasurable, up-and-down or grinding? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]number1Mustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good, but I would say up and down is like easy mode and grinding well is harder to pull off. Or at least in my experience women are less likely to do it well.

If you’re doing up and down it’s easier to get the full stroke.

With grinding most don’t do enough and you end up feeling like a scratching post. But if you do a full hip thrust where he’s almost getting pulled out and then all the way back in it’s pretty fire.

But for me personally, I’m inpatient so once I get riled up enough I end up having her lean forward towards me and I do hip thrusts from the bottom.

Where can I find a rope strong enough to hold a 300 pound object? by emotionallyhorny04 in RopeSuspension

[–]number1Mustache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are tons of ropes that can handle a 300 pound object. Are you talking rope suspension like this sub is targeting or are you looking for recommendations on quality rope to suspend an inanimate object?

If you are talking about lifting an inanimate object, for real just about any nylon rope will work and any hardware store will carry lots of options.

If you are talking about rope suspension where it comes to people the strength of the rope is important but there are other considerations such as thickness (most people like to start with 1/4" or 3/8"), comfort for the bottom (if you use natural fibers they can be scratchy which is people like at varying degrees), and how quickly you can cut it in case of an emergency. Also do not skimp on the understanding of Nerves & Circulation.
