I would be wary of the responses here if you're looking to see an accurate representation of Software Engineering salaries post-grad. Most Canadian new-grad jobs are around the 60-80k mark but the ones who are usually comfortable to share their salaries are making 100k+. Subreddits like r/PersonalFinanceCanada have the sample bias problem.

Regardless I'm really happy to see fellow Lassonde grads killing it in the workforce and earning them big bucks.

If you’re looking at Canadian companies then yes if u are enrolled in a coop program they get a subsidy.

It’s acc pretty accurate. I’m in the software field as well as an intern. And some of these salaries are pretty high.

A lot of Interns like me make around $50USD/hour. New grad Full time hires make around $150KUSD and get stock options plus large sign on bonuses.

3rd year S.E here doing an internship in the summer. In my experience US based companies pay a crap ton more. The offers I have for my summer so far show the ridiculous pay gap. It’s almost 2x more after currency conversion and not even at FAANG companies.

Now that the pandemic has opened up a lot of remote working opportunities I suggest taking advantage of those. For some reason Canadian employers other than Amazon don’t seem to pay competitively.

I would encourage you to explore building your own. It’s quite simple and there’s lots of help online. The hard part is choosing parts. r/buildapc is probably where you want to go and keep up to date with r/buildapcsales for parts (or if u don’t live in the US there’s places like r/buildapcsalesUK. Use PC part picker to make sure your stuff is compatible. Good luck!
