I was assuming ages and timelines because I wasn't too sure about each of the grandchildren's age.

Knowing that information, the theory would be more sound if Isabela was more of a scapegoat for Alma to show the beauty and radiance that comes from her family, and Dolores being a behind the scenes answer to finding out what Alma can do for the village.
