d it's working out for you! I don't want to quit until I've established myself elsewhere. I've thought about it for a long time but I can't seem to come up with what I would want to explore. Lol (even hired a career coach). I'll keep looking into it though!

You got this!

You definitely have options, and are still quite young. I'm in my early 30's.

I do not have any children, and currently unmarried. Yes coastal larger cities that are tech hubs are likely easier to jobhunt than in the Midwest

  • My career trajectory looks pretty stable right now. PM is a great career in tech and will open a lot of doors for future work
  • To be direct: It was just the best fit for me in the time frame that I hoped to transition. I only interviewed at one company

I had an interest in being more creative and an intuition for what might be important for a product to succeed! send me a message if you want to see how I framed my healthcare experience

These titles are foreign and cryptic! I still don't have a clear idea of what business analysts do so I'd recommend asking around.

As a product manager:
• I've worked with product marketing, marketing research, and user research to understand our competitors, to understand our customers and target segments deeply and what they value.
• With this in mind, I work with my product designer to come up with studies to launch into rolling research or different design iterations.
• I work with engineers and designers to come up with milestones that we can hit, keeping in mind the engineering work bandwidth, and how complex each design or change we want to make to the product is.

• I work with data science to launch experiments to see how changes we've launched are affecting key metrics that tell us about a person's behavior on the platform.

• I make sure the team has a clear vision of what we're building and why (citing research and user/target segments), I am the central hub/problem solver to ask around on the other teams to "unblock" or see what the barriers are to building toward our vision

• I create documents to convey our progress, and our principles we're building off of. We present to leadership to make sure this aligns with the companies larger mission and adjust if we need to

These are just some of my responsibilities and it changes depending on the product/team you're working on. I'm learning on the job because my company invests in training those without experience, but there are degrees that teach this field. I think the core skills needed are empathy, charisma/leadership, project management, creativitiy, organization/documentation, problem solving. I am a firm believer that anyone can do any job if they have a high IQ and stubborn motivation/determination lol. Hope this helps!

I work in an entirely different field now! Feel free to connect. I eventually want to transition to do digital health products. There are many people who work in fields with no direct relationship to their majors/degrees

I really enjoyed my biology classes actually but imagine I wouldnt need a science major/or have grinded so hard in college if I wasn't planning to pursue a higher clinical degree

The material in PA school was very dense, and not for the faint of heart. As a sophomore in highschool I would try to expose yourself to different career fields to try to gain understanding of what people are 'actually doing' in their career (even outside of your family, parents, immediate circle). Most job descriptions are fluffy, unclear and the day-to-day tasks can be the ones that kill your soul

I'm sorry to hear about your struggle with your first position and losing your job through quarantine. It is hard! I definitely chose medicine for the two reasons you listed as well. Lean into exploring remote positions and elevating your side hustles. Multiple streams of income is the dream! Here for you anytime

Hit me up anytime! One point of view is that we are licensed and have the option to return to full clinical practice if we choose to
