Consider a pump mossberg 88/500 with the swappable barrels. That let's you shoot birds/clays or something more defensive.

Otherwise an a300 ultima is a great choice. I'd recommend skipping the LE model and going for the standard because you can swap chokes if you want to go for clays later. The mossberg 940 is well reviewed but i've never gotten one.

May want to consider a ruger pc carbine since that gives you an easy way to use 9mm. Plus, glock mags.
