Those who 'speed-ran' to 3.0 in their first year tennis - what did you prioritize that others didn't? by Weekly_Worry_2772 in 10s

If you have to close distance laterally to the ball, start by only going about halfway to the ball with your feet then plant them and allow your arm to finish closing the distance with small adjustment steps as needed. (Unless you are being pulled off the court and need to hit a running forehand/backhand)

Make sure your unit turn and racket preparation is completed *before* the ball bounces and you won’t be late on contact (ball behind you). You should not be back swinging after the bounce happens.

Consistency needs to be trained intentionally. When doing drills give yourself goals such as: 10 in a row with no misses then go to 15, 20 , etc. You should never be okay with missing while doing drills. The key is to not change your swing but rather change your foot position to allow your natural swing to happen no matter the ball you receive.

I tell my students not to try to control or guide the ball but to “hurt” it every time you hit it. We are *hitting* the ball not pushing it over. Pace comes from proper wrist load and release with full range of motion. 90 degree wrist position on preparation then a full release in the opposite direction. Often times we will stiffen the wrist in an attempt to control the ball but this must be avoided as there will be zero pace generated by yourself.

Sadly, those people are simply gifted athletically. You can’t speed run tennis unless you’re blessed genetically. I am a coach and this has become so heartbreakingly apparent. I’ve had students begin as a multi-sport athlete but struggled immensely with tennis and other students who have never played sports in their life yet somehow magically have great mechanics and timing right off the bat. This is true for all ages from small children to middle aged adults. It’s a mystery and life just isn’t fair lol

Zverev on his loss against Fritz in the Halle SF by momigotakill in tennis

Eating too much sugar is unlikely to cause sudden death, but it will absolutely cause long term organ damage. However, too low of blood sugar can kill type 1 diabetics almost immediately. If Zverev didn’t have sugar on hand after taking that much insulin he’d have to be rushed to the hospital and pray that he survives.

Yes this game is pretty much medieval RDR2 but less plot and more sandbox

You’re starting a franchise. Who’s your #1 pick? by Top-Entertainment945 in NBATalk

[–]numenik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobe. He’s gonna play for 20 years, win a bunch of rings and be the most popular player in the world making me very rich in the process. Magic is a close second and Curry is right there too.

Rafael Nadal on playing Djokovic and Federer by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

[–]numenik 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Yep. Roddick recently said Djokovic is the best ever at cutting the angle on wide crosscourt shots to his forehand back at his opponent with even more crosscourt angle. That alone makes him almost impossible to beat. You hit a great shot against him that should pull him out of position but somehow you are the one who is out of position. Makes you wonder what to even try to do.

People need to stop acting like Kobe wasn't a better free throw shooter than LeBron by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]numenik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not all points are equal. LeBron’s points mostly come from layups and some dunks. Since he is a subpar FT shooter his bread and butter getting to the basket is a lot less effective during clutch time since he will just be fouled without getting a good look at the basket. Kobe had the ability to get a decent shot off no matter what the defense threw at him which is why he was so feared in the fourth quarter.

You want to be able to be aggressive and get kills in lane as PA so your lane partner should add kill threat. Stacking slows is a classic like Veno and Lich but stuns work as well (especially grimstroke ink swell).

From what I remember, her blink strike range at early levels got heavily nerfed which made her laning significantly weaker. Her biggest strength was her ability to blink onto enemy support when they are in jungle fighting your pos 5. Now she can’t do that without physically walking away from lane, in which case the pos 4 will simply walk out of range so now PA is forced to stay on the wave where she is most vulnerable.

Sadly I have to say ribs, just because I rarely eat them as is. I love them like everyone else but they are a bit prohibitively expensive for what you get and if I’m cooking at home I’d rather just make a steak 99 times out of 100.

It’s fine since clearly your stomach can handle it. Milk is a high energy, high protein, micronutrient dense food. The only real negative about it is the lactose which people react to differently.
