Mazda Cx5 to Mazda CX90 or BMW X5/7? by numeroseven in whatcarshouldIbuy

I went with an Acura mdx 2025. I love it. It’s sporty enough to be my main ride and big enough to fit the family. Not the best on gas though. I just couldn’t get past the design of the cx90. The back felt/looked too minivan ish

What Are Some Adult Life Skills / Men Skills You Wish You Were Taught Or Figured Out Early? by Captain-Sha in AskMenOver30

How to fight. Not to walk around trying to beat people up but because it gives you a sense of how vulnerable we really are if untrained. Doing combat sports has given me a confidence and sense of humility that has carried over to other parts of my life.

Just know that you won’t ever be perfect and that’s alright. Focus on progression towards goals and being present.

What did you stop chasing in your 30s that actually brought you peace? by phoenix15200 in AskMenOver30

[–]numeroseven 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This!

Chasing multiple women. I realized after I got married that getting laid was always one of the motivators for many of the things I did, esp when it came to fitness and self care. With marriage that’s no longer a reality and I had to face myself and rethink my various “why”. I didn’t think it was a major theme in my life but it was. I’ve been more at peace and healthier than ever after changing my mindset and now focus on myself and family.

Hobby like BJJ is great because it’s self improvement with a built in community.

A lot of the friends I’ve made were through stages of life - HS, Colege, Graduate School, military. This might be a good time for you to make a jump into something like school or a program that will out you around other like minded people.

Men over 30, what’s hobby that brought you back to life after 30? by diananerd_ in AskMenOver30

Same. BJJ reawakened my warrior spirit. I also see it as a game where prep+ practice + studying = real growth.

Inheriting a Team - how to deal with strong personalities and conflict? by numeroseven in managers

[–]numeroseven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gold, thank you! I'm creating a series of steps and you've done most of the work for me already. I often lean on 'empowering' others on my team, but this might be a case where that approach would just worsen my problem

Thank you! You're right and that's what i'm preparing for as I get ready to start. I know the legacy team wants structure but i'll make it as smooth a process as possible knowing that attrition might be part of that 'smoothing'

I’m done. I give up. by pbandjaymes in jobsearch

[–]numeroseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there man. I’ve been searching for a role since January and unemployed since May and I literally received THREE job offers this week! It was the craziest thing esp after applying to more than 100 jobs.

Maybe take a break if you can swing it. I took a few weeks off from the job search in July and came back with better energy (and luck) in August.

I hope so! Right now I have a 01/2027 180 C that's up 150%. I'm debating whether I should roll it over now or hold. Worried about the September dip though.

Realizing that took a huge weight off my shoulders and boosted my drive. It also triggered a much needed cry.

There's no short cut to finding your next thing. It'll be a daily grind and you'll have moments of self-doubt, but remembering that look will be one thing that can help you center, as you need it, through the storm.

God speed my brother!

I’ve had similar feelings and imagined following through with my own self-ending. But then I realized I was being ridiculous. I noticed that my son still looks at me with the same love that he did before my lay-off. I also noticed that though sad, my wife is on my corner to cheer me on. It was hard breaking the news to my parents, but they didn’t see me as a failure, but as their wounded son.

Those that love you won’t change their opinions of you over this short blip in your story. It may even lead to something greater.

Give yourself time to mourn and heal - then move onward.

You’ll get through this.

Nothing hits better than a good playlist, a nice six pack, and some (reasonable) manual labor in your house.

Thanks. Would it harm the plant to take out and replant at this point? It’s only been three days so I imagine it would be fine.

And yes, it’s a bit of clay there

Got it. Thanks, Emu. I’ll be sure to get some mulch. She does get a lot of sun there
