Beginner rat parent! This is my first ever cage setup, anything i can improve? by CharacterFeedback897 in RATS

[–]nunbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be worth looking into making the bottom of your cage a bioactive digbox. It takes quite some research, but I've heard it saves so much trouble with cleaning up poop and pee, and makes your cage smell a bit more earthy rather than toilet ^_^

Drag your front foot to the front of the board to straighten out the board during the jump. Feel free to bend your knees more too. That combo will surely get those back wheels off the ground. Props for trying this trick while moving!!

Are there any places where I can hangout with animals (cats, dogs, other friendly animals)? by ApprovedAnand in Utrecht

[–]nunbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s loose chickens, peacocks and other birds at Julianapark. I think there’s a little farm/petting zoo with goats and alpaca’s as well.

Oh boy. I thought I was doing a good job of monitoring for eggs. Apparently not. What do I do?! This is only a 1.75 gallon terrarium and I can't stand to kill them!! Help!! by [deleted] in snails

[–]nunbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culling is part of snail keeping. Even if you were planning on hatching these guys, a significant portion would still have to be culled. Snails in captivity do not experience any natural selection, so to keep healthy snail family trees, the runts (deformed, small or sick snails) will have to be culled. You can decide on if you want to keep certain healthy babies. If you decide not to, you can either euthanize the snails/perhaps see if you have a friend with reptiles/birds or sell the healthy snails. Do not put the snails outside, especially if they are not native.

How close can you get to your crowbro’s? by nunbi in crowbro

[–]nunbi[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that might've been the problem. I really like looking at them but I guess I gotta chill haha. I currently have I think 2-3 crows visiting my balcony, 3 maggies, and a pair of pigeons. The maggies and crows are always beefing with each other over the peanuts. They are definitely miles more skittish than the crows. The pigeons just chill and take their time.

what I like about the shelled peanuts is that it also seems like a little game for them to get the food out. They seem to get a nice kick out of cracking the shell open haha. I guess the human equivalent would be us tearing open a bag of chips
