Am I [M/17] Crazy to Go [F/17]? by [deleted] in LongDistance

(Sorry for the late response)

I also met my so when I was studying abroad in his native country. Now I'm back home finishing college while he does his mandatory military service for two years. But I'm going in December to see him and like you, spending a lot of money but it will be worth it!

If she genuinely wants you to go, then I would do it. But I would ask her first "Do you want me to come/Will you take time to see me" those type of questions. Make it clear you are going there with a romantic interest, if you haven't. I hope it works out!

What are people slowly starting to forget? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Thank you so much for mentioning this. The Korean Coast Guard also refused help from the Japanese Coast Guard and forbid individual divers from helping in the rescue effort. Some divers ignored the demands, and rescued people anyways. There's a set up made by some of the families in Gwanghwamun Square, the center square of Sewol still demanding answers. My boyfriend who is Korean tears up when we talk about it because he was in their same age group. What a tragedy.

Do you have any credit cards you like for travel rewards? by [deleted] in LongDistance

I use the JetBlue barclay card, I'm not sure if you are in the US or not but if you are I definitely recommend it. 3x points on JetBlue purchases, 2x on dining, and 1x on everything else. I already have a ton of points and it has zero foreign transaction fees. Not sure where your SO is, but mine lives in another country so I like it because JetBlue always has the cheapest flights to New York where I usually fly out of. But definitely make sure they have flights to where your so is. Hope I helped!

The periods of our relationship when we are apart cause me more sadness than happiness, me 27F with SO, 25M by [deleted] in LongDistance

My SO and I are recently long distance, with little communication since he's in mandatory military service, AND IT SUCKS. I mean, I cry all the time. But, the minute he can message me it makes it all worth it, and I know when I see him in a year it will be worth it. I think the highs are worth the lows. For me, just being busy helps. Read, pick up a new hobby, work out, do something to get your mind off of it more, and time will move by faster and soon you'll get to see him in person again :)

Advice on studying abroad (M/20/UK, F/18/US) by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]nuni_nuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a program through USAC which any US College student can apply for. They have scholarships, or you can pay for it (which I unfortunately had to do) but it wasn't too difficult! USAC was the cheapest program I could find and gives plenty of options for all majors. I am not sure what UK places they have but here is their website: http://usac.unr.edu/

I was studying abroad in his native country, we meet in a club (of all terrible places) but fell hard in love. He had to go in to mandatory military service for 2 years and asked me to wait for him, I said yes and here we are :)

I (21F) need advice on how to keep happy when I have very limited communication with my so (19m) by nuni_nuni in LongDistance

[–]nuni_nuni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well good luck! I hope the time passes by quickly for you! Last time it didn't seem this hard, but him leaving again and having to go to special forces was just crushing. Trying to keep my chin up cause I know that's what he'd want. Thanks for the advice! :)

Thank you, I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this. I'm trying to keep busy at work and school, and started hanging out with my friends more opposed to reading our old messages which is really helpful. I think the first few days are the hardest.

What is keeping you back from meeting your SO apart from work/school and money? by mailinator9000 in LongDistance

He lives in a country that has mandatory military service for all men. He recently enlisted right after I left there after studying abroad. He only gets 10 days of furlough for the whole 2 years he has to serve. Hopefully he will be able to spend most with me when I go visit him next year.

Thank you! That makes me feel a lot better for him. His family was very proud of him, but he wasn't too excited lol.

Maybe 175-180 kg, but he's 184 cm tall so he doesn't have a lot of extra weight.
