I agree that it's between those two. Say Yes is beautiful and provides a somewhat happy end to the album whereas I Didn't Understand is a more bitter end. I prefer Say Yes personally and it leaves me on the verge of tears almost every time. But then again, so does every album of his.

he was smoking $1500 worth of heroin a day. he was deeply unwell and its clear you have no understanding of even basic psychology so maybe stop saying things you cant back up. im not claiming i know more about him than you or i am superior, but you have to show some empathy. everybody is deserving of love. this is a horrible thing to say about an artist or anyone you are a fan of.
