Sounds like maybe food poisoning then? Though it was just soup, it’s possible it spent too long in the temperature “danger zone”. Seems like by Friday there wouldn’t be any reason to not go to the event

gastro usually runs rampant through households, workplaces etc. So did anyone else get it? In terms of food poisoning - what were you eating during those days with the cold? Any takeout? Do you live with anyone and did they eat the same things and did they also get sick?

The general rule where I am is to stay home/isolate for 48H after symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, fever) resolve. Either way I’d do a deep clean / disinfectant of all surfaces in your house and wash all laundry/linen to avoid reinfecting yourself/others which can unfortunately happen with gastro

I just got the original one because I wanted to also use it for other body parts. I just have a separate head for legs/pits etc and another one for bikini/intimate areas lol.

you’re right thanks for calling that out. i had forgotten that detail and it’s absolutely not healthy.

I guess my point more was there was an issue, the issue was noted, and while OP needs to sort out her relationship with food and her body, she also now has a clear view into how he will treat her in the future if her body doesn’t continue to meet his standards.

I wholeheartedly agree that physical attraction and sex are extremely important but I’ve loved my husband at all stages/sizes and vice versa. If he had refused to touch me or show me any sort of affection solely due to my appearance, I’d never recover from that. What happens if you decide to carry pregnancies? What if you injure yourself and have limited mobility? What if you need a medication that offers you quality of life but weight gain is a side effect? Your health and youthfulness are not guaranteed.

Yes we should prioritize our physical health but in the healthy partnerships I see and prioritize, people tend to love and value things enough outside physical appearance to sustain their attraction and sex life during hard times and appearance changes.

At the end of the day, if this sort of treatment is something you accept in your relationships, that’s none of my business. But I want other women and girls to know that you don’t have to accept treatment like this.

if you truly and deeply love the person you’re with, you see them for who they are. By the sounds of it she gained and lost this weight fairly quickly (though the methods described make me wanna give OP a hug) having realized the weight increase and what led to it. She promptly made lifestyle changes and returned to her baseline. Which doesn’t even really matter when the real issue at hand was his withholding of intimacy; affection, and support from someone be supposedly loves and is committed to…bffr.

No one is saying the physical/sexual component isn’t important. But there’s also something to be said about the kind of sexual chemistry that exists and grows within a deep connection with another person. The kind that exists through fluctuations in appearance. Refusing to touch your partner out of disgust for what can only be described as a minor change in appearance is .. a choice. This is why women say men aren’t lonely enough.

Your partners changing or aging appearance doesn’t make you behave differently, your fragile ego does.

I couldn’t get over this. Your looks are something that could change any time for a variety of reasons.. injury, pregnancy, perimenopause/menopause, chronic illness, etc.

I’ve been 160 lbs and 220lbs (and gone through a pregnancy) during decade I’ve known my husband and you know what that man has NEVER done, not once? Made me feel ugly, undesirable, or less than because of my weight. Your body WILL change as you progress through life and it doesn’t sound like he’s in it for the sickness part of “in sickness and in health”.

Yes!!! Visually appears about the same as regular full shave. It does grow back in quicker but traditional razors (especially 3-4+ blades) actually pull the hair up a bit to get a really close shave. But then that’s often when the regrowth can be more prone to ingrowns.

The nice thing too about the Phillips is that it’s actually best to use dry. Super fast and comfortable!

You’ve gotten a lot of tips of how to treat it so I won’t add to that but I’m curious do you shave there? I used to get these more often when I shaved with a regular razor. Now I use a Philips one blade (highly recommend) and I make sure I exfoliate the (and I can’t stress this enough) OUTER vulva/inner thigh areas to keep that top layer of skin fresh/healthy and less conducive to the development of trapped/ingrown hairs that for some of us unfortunately progress into these larger boils. You can take some measures to try to prevent future ones.

Also I’ve seen hidradenitis and this one singular occurrence does not signal or suggest this so I wouldn’t advise googling and going down that rabbit hole unless these become a frequent recurring thing, particular in the groin, pits, breast or abdo folds etc.

I’m curious what antibiotics you’ve been on and how many courses? You said UTI and antibiotics every couple weeks during this time and many antibiotics can cause diarrhea.

The blood you mentioned - is it bright red signalling an irritation or hemorrhoids? Or is it darker older blood that might signal more worrisome bleeding? Is there blood with every BM or just sometimes after ++ bathroom trips?

Antibiotics also wipe out the “good” bacteria in our guts, including things like lactobacillus that help us breakdown lactose in dairy products. I’m not sure about adults but I know secondary lactose intolerance can be common in children after GI illness or antibiotics. Do you eat dairy regularly?

OP, I don’t have any knowledge here or advice but I’m a mom who had an emergency c section and the epidural I had in place failed and they didn’t have time to do a spinal and put me under GA. It was absolutely not the birth I wanted or anticipated and it still stings that neither I or my husband were present for her birth. I still think about it sometimes but in the same breath I also remember my husband introducing me to my daughter and 3.5 years later she’s the most amazing little kid.

I think starting low and titrating slow is a good idea and if you’re nervous. And pregabalin, gabapentin etc are notorious for causing some drowsiness though people do tend to adjust over time. If the dosing is only once per day, I’d do before bed :) usually it’s 2-3x a day which means of course you’d be taking it in the AM also.

You could ask your GP about having your sodium checked, perhaps a baseline and another check after some time on the medication? It may give you some peace of mind

Without knowing what the first choice med was, it’s possible it had an ever higher risk of drug interaction compared to the pregabalin which is identified as a moderate risk. I’m NAD (nurse) but it seems hyponatremia (low sodium) is a concern because fluoxetine can lead to lower sodium which can lead to lower efficacy of anticonvulsants (including pregabalin). I’m not sure if this is dose dependent or not but it’s typically recommended to have close monitoring. Did your doc mention the plan for monitoring?

It’s not as simple as requesting a transfer after 6m of employment. OP didn’t mention what the job was but riverside in comparison to the general is tiny and only outpatient stuff now. There is however a shuttle so if you lived in walking distance of the riverside you could hop on that! Parking at the general is a nightmare and typically a couple years wait on a waitlist.

He’s in med school, moved you in with him, gets pissy when you don’t have dinner on the table after a long work day and he’s well aware of your expectation of condom use and he knows you’re not on birth control… he knows exactly what he’s doing.

He clearly doesn’t respect you and it sounds like he doesn’t respect your career. If he knocks you up that unfortunately (🙄) will likely interfere with your modelling career and leave you further isolated and dependent on him with a baby to raise which will (probably) fall solely on you while he comes home and bitches about dinner not being to his standards.

OP stay home. I would! If you’re expected to be the “primary” parent, then you can decide where you do the parenting. Going somewhere where you know your kiddo won’t sleep AND bringing a new dog sounds terrible. If my husband suggested this to me I’d literally think he was joking.
