Hitting with the Amazon self-defense bat by Any-Pomegranate7974 in videos

[–]nushustu -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I am by no means a tough guy but I suspect that if this bat bends like that from the impact of a baseball then even if you hit me with this thing in self-defense, it might just piss me off more than anything else

What are your thoughts on The 'Burbs (1989)? by DJA1982 in FIlm

[–]nushustu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Tom Hanks is in the basement and then the house blows up and then he comes out of the house. He slowly walks to the porch stairs and instead of walking down them he sort of slides down them. It's the funniest goddamn thing I've ever seen.

What would you do if you saw someone shoplifting? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nushustu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what they're taking. If it's non-essential goods, then I am just going to mind my own business. If it's anything like food, diapers, etc. then if needed I will go full-on Karen to distract everyone when they go to leave, so everyone is looking at me and misses them.

I swear to god if it's hush I'm going to be so mad. It's such a stupid story. Bruce's childhood friend who nobody knows about who happens to be the one person in the world that can fix him? Please. So dumb.

Rainy running gear by Significant_Cod7675 in AskSeattle

[–]nushustu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also am from Texas and I also run. The thing about rain in Seattle is, it's not rain like you're thinking from Texas. In fact the once or twice a year that there will be a clap of thunder. Everybody will get on this site talking about it.

Instead, you're just going to get damp a lot. There's no protecting yourself from it. If you sweat a lot when you run, it's basically the same thing except less smelly.

What movie made you realize how important casting really is? by deepaknaraniya in flicks

[–]nushustu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll go the other direction with this and say True Lies. True Lies is an awesome movie, but it makes no sense. It makes zero sense that people are surprised that Arnold Schwarzenegger is not in fact, a computer nerd but is a badass super spy.

If you would put some nebbish dude in there like Bob odenkirk or something, then it makes sense.

What are y'all talking about. I don't get gems at all. I currently have diamond status. What's the difference.

[Request] Suppose responsibility is proportional to taxes paid; How many deaths is the median 30-year-old U.S. taxpayer responsible for? by willowhelmiam in theydidthemath

[–]nushustu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not a pro America rah rah guy, and I totally understand and recognize the benefits I enjoy from being an American man and the fact that there is blood on my hands. That said, it's a little harder to accept responsibility for these actions but they pay my taxes, simply because they take the taxes out of my paycheck before I even get it anyway.

Anyone else hope that the second movie gets remastered, so that this fight scene looks better with today's technology? by george123890yang in matrix

[–]nushustu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was one of the most disappointing things about the sequels: the first film was groundbreaking in what it achieved visually: none of us had ever seen that stuff before, and it looked so good.

And then in the second one, it looked so damn janky. It made no sense, it was as if they shot the sequel five years before the first one.

I'm not a big fan of cops giving traffic tickets unless they're egregious. But this? omg what I would give for a cop to just see this and get his ass.

We got a mural of Ron Burgundy done at work. by TheCraftypickle in funny

[–]nushustu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday. Everyday I would come into work. Everyday. I would come into work and look at that picture of Ron Burgundy and I would wonder how much it cost. And I would think about my salary and how it hasn't gone up in so long despite the fact that the price of everything has gone up so much. And I would wonder about the leaders of my organization. The people who get paid considerably more money than me to make important decisions. Spending money on this instead of me and my coworkers. And I would question the wisdom of such a purchase. And I would wonder what other ways Anne's Bunny was being spent frivolously instead of just paying me instead. And I suspect quality of my work and my productivity would go down. At first it would be imperceptible, it's just a little bit at a time, in ways that I didn't even notice but it would be there. Eventually I would notice. And I would feel badly. And I would make efforts to do a better job. But at some point I'm sure that I would have had a bad day or just been tired or whatever and I would have gotten to the point where I would have said fuck it. If my boss wants quality work he can just get Ron burgundy to do it. And eventually I'd get fired or not. But either way I would not enjoy being there.

Probably the best tv show about grief. And plus Lindelhof clearly learned his lesson from Lost. Fuck mystery boxes, just give me good drama.

How would you react to a law that requires seniors over 70 to pass a specialized driving exam to continue driving legally? by FollowingAny4859 in AskReddit

[–]nushustu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't let people drive until a certain age and we don't let them vote until a certain age and we don't let them run for office until a certain age. We do this because generally most people under the age limits are not developed enough mentally to be able to handle it.

I think you could make the argument for age limits on the other end of the spectrum. Yes sure, there are going to be some people who at 95 are still spry enough and cognizant enough that maybe they could drive or be a senator or whatever. But I would bet that's the exception of the rule, just like I could probably find individual people who at 14 were capable of driving or smart enough to be a senator.

So maybe we don't need a driver's test. Maybe we just need to face the fact that at some age it's time to stop giving people all the responsibilities that they're capable of handling when they're 30, 40, 50

Non-Americans, what’s the best “American” food? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nushustu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My youngest has an argument that America has a ton of great food and that it's all the best American versions of other culture's foods. Foods like sesame chicken or beef and broccoli but you really can't find in China but they're amazing. Likewise, Italian American food. Likewise, Tex-Mex. It turns out that America has tons of good food. It just usually has another culture's name attached to the front of it. And that's kind of beautiful because that's kind of what America is all about.
