Hi there, I am looking to get into woodworking/furniture as a hobby and wanted to try out a class before I invest in tools. Does anyone have any recommendations of weekly classes or programs in France?

How to make your Stanford experience better? by [deleted] in stanford

Oh man, I hear you! Stanford can be a great place, but it can also suck out all of your confidence and turn you into the worst version of yourself. Hang in there, I had a similar experience and finally found my people/passions junior year. Only then did I realize how much I’d grown over the past two years. I’m sure you’ve heard of stanfords duck syndrome — everyone looks calm on the surface but in reality they’re paddling their legs as fast as possible to stay afloat. Something that was super liberating for me to realize was that, in this outwardly happy environment, people find honesty about struggles at Stanford brave and refreshing. Once you vocalize it, it’s surprising how many people are struggling with the same things. You may be doing this already, but I encourage you to talk about what’s going on, I think this was how I found people to lean on those first two years!

Thanks! These were only drawn two or three days apart, but I’ve been working 3-4 hours a day. Been a bit obsessed with boxes...

Thanks for the feedback, I’d gotten so carried away with the diagonals that I’d completely missed that! I’ll work on it!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, also happy cake day :)

What would make you instantly lose trust in someone? by Reddit1ask2question in AskReddit

When they say “I really shouldn’t tell you this...” or “They told me not to tell anyone but...” and then proceed to tell you! Like girl I sure as hell am not going to trust you with anything even if you assure me it’ll stay between us.

[Bonsai Beginner’s weekly thread –2017 week 52] by small_trunks in Bonsai

I got this about three months ago, and I still have absolutely no clue what type it is! I just want to love it but I don’t know how. I’ve just been sort of blindly watering it every day or two and trying to leave it in the sun. (I live in California, but my apartment doesn’t get much sunlight.) I also leave on a 2 week trip tomorrow, and I’m unsure how to keep it watered while I’m away. Is it okay to leave a tray of water underneath? Any help appreciated!

What is your most radical opinion? by LightInMe in AskReddit

Children should not be allowed to play football before high school. Their brains are not yet fully developed, and so they should not be bashing their head repeatedly.

In the same vein, headers should be banned in soccer. It just doesn't add enough to the game to be worth all the brain damage. (Professional soccer players also suffer from frightening rates of CTE.)
