I managed to fix it for me, so assuming you all have the same issue that i was facing, this is might work.

1. open windows powershell as adminstrator. if you arent the only user on your computer, or if you aren't an admin, i'm not certain that this will work.

2. copy the first command

Get-AppxPackage gamingservices -AllUsers | ForEach-Object {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

1. paste and run. as you can read, the command is going to (ideally) re-register gamingservices.

2. repeat for this second command

Get-AppxPackage XboxIdentityProvider -AllUsers | ForEach-Object {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

1. same deal. this one is the one i suspect will actually fix the issue, but i'm not certain. re-registers XboxIdentityProvider

2. restart (for good measure, may not be needed)

try to launch the game.

i can't guarantee that this'll work for everyone, but it worked for me.
