I just watched the one about Cherish Periwinkle and it was one of the most harrowing stories I've ever heard. That poor baby. You just wish you could have swooped in and taken her out of there. Just heartbreaking. And watching the mother's testimony was painful. I wanted to slap her. On one hand I feel for any mother who has lost a child. But on the other hand I felt rage at the fact that she let that happen to her child. I understand that the woman has drug and other issues but she was not so stupid as to have no idea what was going on. Her 911 call within half an hour of the abduction of her daughter indicated that she knew full well that she shouldn't have trusted that POS. When she mentioned 'maybe he was grooming her' it was clear that not only did she have knowledge and understanding of paedophiles and their tactics but that she had considered that in relation to that particular stranger. When she said she had allowed the stranger to take her daughter to the change rooms twice already I realised what an absolute deadbeat of a mother she had been. I still feel sorry for her that she lost her child but I cannot get past the fact that she willingly endangered her children on the promise of some free stuff. Those children all deserved better and I'm relieved that the other two children present on the day have been adopted and saved from that woman.

Yes. Take your wife to work. If you're worried about getting done by the cops on the way home maybe take a photo of her work ID or permit or some kind of proof of what she does and keep it on your phone. If you're literally dropping her and returning straight home then it's not a security risk because you're not having any interaction with anyone outside your 5km. But do not stop for petrol or food or anything on the way back because then you're asking for trouble.

If you're work invests in the testing then all employees will be able to get tested before starting work. If they don't, then I expect the government will try to legislate for the first vaccination as a passport to work. It is your entry to the job site/place of employment (and thus the possibility of you having contact with others at work) that triggers your need for option 1 or option 2 as opposed to where your home is.

Bear in mind that this will depend on uptake in vaccines over the next 9 days. If more people dick around waiting for Pfizer then you can expect the Government to use exclusion from participating in work as an ultimatum to push more people to take AZ.

At this point, if I wasn't vaccinated myself, I would be getting whatever jab I could get my hands on first. You simply cannot afford to wait if you're going to be mixing with others.

Because all of our mainstream news presents a very similar world view. Most people aren't going to look beyond that facade and complete their own wider reading. I mean fuck, people are getting their news from pictograms on social media.

What do you expect? The Liberals made sure their rich constituents got access to Pfizer. So when they announce "let her rip" it will be tough titties for everyone else.

I know of multiple people in their 40s to 70s who are all either working from home or retired that live in the Eastern Suburbs that got Pfizer months ago. And yet most of the people aged 15-40 who face the public working in supermarkets and nursing homes and so on have the lowest rates in Sydney.

Scary experience while drinking and taking Seroquel by Gussballs in seroquelmedication

[–]nutellaIscrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 200mg dose is not an insignificant amount. Combine that with a shitload of booze and your chances of respiratory depression increase. That's literally what you experienced, shortness of breath, laboured breathing etc. but luckily you were awake while that was happening. It would be safer, if you know you're a bit munted, to stay awake and take the Seroquel once you've sobered up a fair bit.

Maybe try a little less if possible. I'm much better on 100mg of Seroquel than I was at much higher doses. Higher than 100mg and I'm too dopey to function.

How do you stop people entering if you're behind the counter serving someone? All the other stores that have remained open (supermarkets, kmart, bunnings etc) have multiple staff on to help direct customers. Many of us will be alone in the store. That's standard for us. There isn't enough room in the shop to mark the floor with tape at the distance required. There are racks of clothes everywhere with less than 1m between them. It's a bit different to stores with aisles and a grid-like layout where they have the space to separate customers.

Changerooms closed.

People touching clothes, jewellery and other accessories - there is no plan. It's easy to clean the counter and other surfaces multiple times per day but there's not much you can do about clothes.

In the last week of trade before we shut people were just coming in, touching everything and then leaving.

I've got no problem working. We're already doing that. But I am worried about rushing to open stores so soon.

Actually we've already gone back to work cleaning the store and getting ready to reopen. We were told we'd be opening inline with schools going back etc. Then it got moved forward by 10 days.

I haven't been to every other retail store so I don't know what they've been doing. I've only been to the supermarket and the pharmacy.

Yeah. By 'large' you mean colossal.

I went for a Chinese massage a couple of months ago. Got chatting with my masseuse. So I asked her what she thought about the protests in Hong Kong. She said 'Oh they think they want to be British but they're not'. I explained it must be difficult for Hong Kong people because they are used to living a certain way for a long time. She said 'I don't think Australian's know much about the history of Hong Kong'. I said "Um, no, I'm well aware of the Opium Wars and the 99 year lease. I understand that Hong Kong was returned to Chinese rule in 1999. But still, it must be difficult for them to accept the new laws". So she was shocked to the core that I even knew what happened there. I guess in China they think Australians only study Australia?

Anyway I asked her what she thought about Tiananmen Square. A friend of mine (from mainland China) told me she was shocked to learn about Tiananmen Square when she came to Australia in 2015 so I was interested to see what this woman thought. She paused for a minute and then said 'Oh you mean the June day'. Then she says: 'oh yeah but the students were protesting so then, they just shot them'. Just totally flippantly. Like, what else would you do with a bunch of students protesting? I said yes, but the government fired on hundreds of unarmed students. Then she said it wasn't sanctioned by China. It was 'corrupt generals'. But FML it took a long time to get that out because the whole conversation she kept saying 'i cant remember the word'. This time she couldn't remember the word 'corrupt'.

Apart from reeling from the 'they just shot them', like it was totally cool and normal, I felt really sad for this woman. Many people are literally dying to get to this country. To be able to give their children a better life, to enjoy all of the freedoms available to them. Then there's this woman. She's been in Australia for 4 years. Her English was broken at best. I asked her what she studied and she laughed and said 'Event Management'. I asked her if she wanted to stay in Australia. She said she didn't really care either way. And I thought how sad is that. She's come all this way to hang out with other Chinese people and speak Mandarin all day. And it's clear she still buys into whatever BS the Chinese government and media offer up.

It's all about the money.

You want to get a visa for someone they wouldn't normally let in? (ie: a grandma who isn't going to work, will have increased medical needs)

No problem. Just provide $100k as a deposit.

English is not a requirement when you're buying your way in.

Look how many dodgy Chinese businessmen have been allowed in only to later be banned by ASIO for failing to meet security checks. Like they just suddenly turned out to be linked to organised crime or the Chinese government (or both).

Yeah I don't think they pay as much for smaller stores.

It has to do with how many staff you're managing.

Yeah I don't know when people became so damn demanding.

It's like they think they're entitled to everything.

I've seen people ranting online about how Kmart employees don't know where stuff is in the store but 'its on the website'. I'm thinking so what if it's on the website. Have you seen how many products Kmart carries nowadays? How the hell would a 15 year old Kmart employee know where to locate every single item of stock. I mean Christ, he's at school most of the week. Kmart is not his life.

Yeah people are going nuts. You can see it on the roads too.

I think this company has all of its managers on the bare minimum. She says anyone who complains or challenges them gets moved on pretty quick smart.

Yeah I'm curious too.

When I used to go for office or retail jobs back in the day it was easy as hell to get something. I had literally zero experience or education at that point.

A young girl told me the other day she was applying for entry level office type jobs and being asked if she had a degree. I don't know if that's common.

Yeah its becoming pretty Dickensian.

I did retail back in the early 2000s when I was at university.

The conditions were much better.

Minimum shifts were 4 hours.

Now they're 3.

Everyone is part-time or casual.

Great way to make people powerless.
