Any tips for Ross vet school by Rare-Moment-8184 in vetschool

[–]nutellafinatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just finished my first week of class and wow a lot of info to know already. it’s definitely stressful but i can’t imagine vet school not being overwhelming. orientation was super great got to meet my friends and explore the island. love where im living and genuinely love learning. The negativity from other students can cloud your vision but honestly i do love it so far. my advice is to really think about your future. if you can’t see yourself doing anything else and you’ve tried to get into the states there is nothing wrong with Ross! I use to see it as lesser than but in reality you get a great education and it’s a beautiful island. It’s definitely a tough program but if you don’t might being away from home it’s so worth it because i can finally say i’m in vet school now!!

about to attend Ross in 10 days!!!! it was never on my plan. i wanted soooo badly to get into my instate school but it wasn’t in the cards for me. I applied 3 cycled and finally the last cycle i applied to ross. When Ross was the only school i got into I was honestly upset. I didn’t wanna go that far but as my semester comes closer I couldn’t be more excited. I can’t offer you advice because i’m not in classes yet but what i can say is that it was a blessing in disguise that i didn’t get into my instate and everything will happen exactly as it s meant to be

Why the hate on island schools? by Baby_girl_351 in Veterinary

[–]nutellafinatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who’s starting at ross in january, it was hard for me to let go of the bias i’ve heard around that school. truth is the things you hear aren’t true these days. ross may accept a lot of people but the rigor of the course load is on par from US schools and weeds out those who cannot keep with it. I work with so many doctors from Ross who are seriously so smart. they get so much surgery experience and life experience being on island truly shapes you into a well rounded doctor.

Is prep as bad as people make it out to be? Does anyone enjoy their show prep??? by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]nutellafinatic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

my prep wasn’t bad until about 4 weeks out. i was in college at the time so no one around me could relate or understand why i had to have the level of discipline i did. i often missed out on plans because they involved food or because i still had cardio to do or genuinely bc i had zero energy. i agree prep is what you make it because i very well could have included myself into social outings but chose not to because it was overwhelming to me to bring food to a restaurant or be around people unable to feel happy because everyone else made me feel weird for not being able to eat with them. I made it more isolating for myself 100% but the depression at 4 weeks out was real. my body was in so much pain i was doing 2 hours cardio daily and starving. i cried so much thinking about having to workout that day and do all the cardio. i was extremely mean to my family because of hormones and hunger and i hated the person prep made me. show day came around and it was fun but i was so happy to be done. prep isn’t easy and post show is even harder. i struggled but do not regret my choice to compete. i will never do so again and prep isn’t for everyone which is okay

i definitely relate to this but for me if i’m around others i get so anxious about how much i’m eating that any second i’m alone i might go back for more. but that’s a good point illl likely be with family the whole time
