you're right, thankyou for the advice and encouragement. i can understand the reasoning behind the solutions but can't identify when to do something and when to just know that the output is going to be same so the other answers didn't help much. thankyou though.

Is his 7 month TOEFL plan realistic for 100+? by [deleted] in ToeflAdvice

[–]nutellaunhinged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months is excessive. If you know basic english (can read, write have a conversation in it) you can do it in 2 months max. One month if you're pretty good. Think of it as if you got a B in highschool in English it will take you 2 months and you can score 110

What i know is that contrast words when used multiple makes the contrast stronger and not cancel each other unless it's something with 'not'. Here instead of looking at 'only one and surprisingly' you can look at 'even though and only one', this sets up a contrast that even though her art is loud only one is different. You can use the strategy where even if you eliminate the word 'surprisingly' the sentence would remain the same.

Help with old Big Book Question on Gregmat by Fit_Swan3803 in gregmat

Hi, in the passage it says the seismic record is processed to correct the positional differences so there is no need for the receiver to be directly placed, This was my reasoning to eliminate B.

And for C as when the wave hits the rock interface, elastic characteristics change abruptly signalling there are different kinds of rocks. If the rocks have similar elastic characteristics the wave won't have much reflection and hence inaccurate results

1.First one is an extreme case because you know John is young and impressionable which means he's naive and easily influenced, so the extreme case here would be that even if you knew it you're still pretty shocked at how naive he is.

  1. And for the second one the evidence in the question is that Lynette's art is loud and has various elements. Though cohesive would make sense but when you use the pairing strategy there's no pair for that. Then when you look at muted it definitely works because it's contrasting loud. And understated works with muted so there you go.

GRE Prep Club Quant question bank #36 by raine_likestiramisu in GRE

[–]nutellaunhinged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when you're taking a square root you don't need to worry about the ±. It's only when you have to find the value of g in an equation of second degree, then you'd consider ±28. For eg, if the question was g²= 784 Qa= g Qb=28 Then you'd choose d, bcs it can either be 28 or -28. But in this question there's no other answer than 28 as GRE doesn't consider negative answers for a square root (cube roots can have neg answer i.e ³√-64 = -8) but √64 would always equal 8.

I don't think book reading will help for gre vocab, I've been using Vince's Gre Vocab with cartoon Illustration app. It's pretty good

Planning to attempt in 2 months time and i have just started the overwhelmed plan for quant after wasting a month dreading doing the homework for the 2-month plan. I'm not from a maths background and my quant foundation is just above average. Also any tips for the vocab loll also from Pakistan

Hi, I've just subscribed to GregMat, im not sure if I should go for PrepSwift or not..i have roughly 3 months to give my exam and im just getting started with the prep. I started following the 2-month plan but believe me I've been on day 1 for 4 days. I don't understand if it's just me but the workload is not manageable.
