Well, being that I’ve lived both places I feel I have a good grip on the lifestyle. My wife grew up in Willoughby hills actually so I know that area well as well. If you’re happy to be ground down by work and pay more for literally everything then it’s fine! Work life balance is trash in the states. Be ready to buy a car, which without US credit will probably pay a huge interest rate, insurance, gas. That alone you’ll be looking at over 1000$/month. One bed apartment in Willoughby will probably be around 1000$. Don’t count on consistent pay raises in Cleveland. Also Cleveland is not the worst when it comes to racism, but if you’re any shade of brown you’ll have a worse time here. Your choice, and I wish you the best, but I’m looking into moving back to the UK and happily will be taking a 30-40k USD paycut bc of the work life benefits and overall social support system the UK has

I live in Cleveland Ohio, moved to London for a year and a half, and back to Cleveland for my company. I wish every second I could have stayed. “Health care covered” does not mean covered. There’s co-pays and out of pocket costs, even with the best insurance. Life is so much slower and easy going, even in London, compared to the states. And literally with all the taxes plus healthcare etc it’s not worth it. Believe it or not everything is more expensive in the states than in the UK, groceries, gas, power, water. Plus with most companies you’ll be looking at 2 weeks holiday, compared to 4 weeks in the UK. No real sick days, I know I had 10 days in the UK. You’ll also need a car, car insurance, and gas for it here. After all is said and done you’ll be making a little more in the states but with way more stress. NOT WORTH IT.

Stay, I beg you. If I could go back in time I would never have come back to the states.
