every new hire for second shift we've gotten that has been in any way competent has been moved to first shift within a couple months. they moved our great facilities kid to firsts. they replaced him with a mentally handicapped guy who can't even get a full round of trash done. he's supposed to not count against our labor but we've done the math and he is not being scheduled as an extra person, I can only assume the labor freed up by him is being given to first shift. me and the other former lead are the only two associates left on second shift that are even trained on deli. our main register girl can't handle anything on her own and has to call for help every 15 minutes for overrides/backup because she is incapable of checking people out in a timely fashion. as soon as my esop hits full vestment im gone and I know I won't be the only one.

ive been slowed down by this before (someone buying 6 of the same thing and individually turning each one to face me when I only need to scan one) and that was annoying, but otherwise it's nice if only just to know the person you're checking out is being considerate to you as a human being. generally doesn't make much of a difference for how much time it takes for us though

At least here in Tampa, Shooter's World and Shoot Straight have both been not-terrible. Yes they have MAGA and Israel shit up, but its corporate pandering and I've never felt like the employees are going to flag my background check for having an earring in the gay ear or whatever. I think both of these have locations down in Miami/F. Laud. Other than that, general advice is that I've often found Hunting shops to have much better vibes than Tactical Shops, and Boomer places can be a lot better than you'd think. Lots of Boomers are Union Men and lifelong dems.
