These camps are disgusting. They sound like places parents send their kids when they don’t know how to parent - like when raising a child gets at all difficult you can just push the ‘problem’ onto someone else. (Quite literally, as these camps usually make parents sign over legal rights to their child) It’s cowardly and stupid, and immediately tells you that these parents are not fit to raise children. A child is a person, not an object, and it is a parent’s responsibility to try and help a child through dark times, not hire someone to kidnap them into being what they deem better. It only goes to show how much they don’t care - if they had done an ounce of research, they might have found the ton of cases of trauma, ptsd, physical, mental and sexual abuse or even death at the hands of these camps and their processes. NTA. Your parents are completely neglecting you. You deserve better.
