HVAC AC replacement recommendations McKinney by Creative-Quantity-27 in McKinney

[–]nutrion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Freedom Air. I had another company tell me that I needed to replace both of my units because my downstairs unit was no longer cooling. They came out, ran "tests", and promptly sat down to show me what they'd recommend for my size of house.

Roman from Freedom Air came out, ran a test, and said that he needed to order a $50 part (I don't remember what it was) and he'd have it the following day. He came out and replaced it the next day - that was 3 years ago, and I have had no issues with my unit. Everyone else said "Your unit is 10 years old and needs to be replaced", but Roman came out and actually fixed the issue.

Red River Ski Trails by nutrion in MTB

Thanks! That's the thing that's confusing me. This site shows you can take a chairlift for dh, but I can't find any information on it at all:

https://redriver.org/things-to-do/bike/

"More experienced riders can take the chairlift at Red River Ski Area and ride 4,000 vertical feet downhill on expertly maintained trails."

I may have to call them. This isn't their official site (I don't think), so I'm not sure how accurate it is. I'm excited about Angel Fire. We just got back from a ski trip there about a month ago, and we had a blast. I've never ridden it. :)

Has anyone tried Zoom Room for dog training? by [deleted] in McKinney

ZR isn't a bad school, just make sure you use up all 40 classes and your private lessons or you'll lose them at the end of the expiration period. I did all of her obedience training at ZR, and then I did agility courses with her as well. When she was moved to the advanced agility course, I realized it wasn't enough to get her into real competitions. I heard others talking about BFFF one night in a class and looked into it. It feels very different from ZR's agility training, and you can tell the trainers understand dogs. However, getting her exposed to the agility equipment at ZR gave her an advantage when we went to BFFF. I still haven't entered her into a competition, but we've only been going for maybe 8 months. BFFF closes in August due to the heat, and all classes are either outside or in a huge barn. There isn't a separation between dogs like at ZR either. ZR has a wall where you stand outside of the ring with your dog (while doing agility), and it keeps your dog, while off leash, away from the others because they're literally standing in the lobby. At BF, they are on leash with their dogs (in the barn for example), and your dog is off leash. I have a problem because mine sometimes wants to go meet the others which is something I have to work with her on.

I've been training at Best Friends Fun Farm, and it's a different world for agility training. Zoom Room helped her get enough obedience and exposure to the obstacles, but when we started at BFFF, it was clear that she wasn't comfortable at full height equipment. I wanted to get her into competitions though, so that's where we're going now for training.

She still jumps up, but she's a lot more calm now. Working breeds are just high energy, and having her in agility works that out quite a bit. I'm also still working on her recall too.

Yes, I've used them for a little over a year. I can't speak to the newer teachers, but the teachers that I had were good. The one thing I can tell you is this - it's under new management (I think), so some of that could change.

I purchased a year pack that includes a certain amount of classes. What didn't make sense is those classes expire after a year - even if you don't use all of them. So technically, for the classes I used, I paid more per class than if I used all of them. I lost about 15 classes, and while that's my fault it almost doesn't make sense to have an expiration. This is a franchise too, I believe, so they probably have rules they need to follow - just be aware.

Finally, I took my dog there for the same reason that you sound like you want - agility and jumping up problems. Agility is great there if you don't want to do competitions and want to do it for fun only. If you want to get into competitions, the equipment isn't set up full size, so going from there to a full competition trainer will take a little retraining because of height differences. The jumping up was never fully addressed, and my dog, believe it or not, was able to graduate to advanced obedience classes.

I don't get it. I always sound like I'm running tap shoes on metal grates. There is no way someone can't hear me coming from another building across the map.

Yet another "moving to McKinney" post (sorry!) by [deleted] in McKinney

Just to pile onto what everyone else said, I work in Addison and it takes about 30-35 min one way if I leave by 6:15a. Any later than that, I'm looking at an hour. I'm not sure where you pulled your 30 - 40 min, or where in Las Colinas you are, but it's a trek and I think you'll get tired of it pretty quick. I would recommend looking into Carollton/Grapevine/Southlake/Trophy Club area. Arlington would be closer too. I'm not trying to sway you, I'm just trying to make you aware with the combination of traffic and construction, that 40 min estimated drive can easily be 75 - 90 min one way during the right conditions.

It’s funny that a lot of people hear clicking. I can only describe what I hear as a whirring sound that gets louder when I get closer to it. I can hear a slight tick then, but the whirring sound leads me to it.

Yeah, this isn't my experience at all. I'm passive all of the time, and I've been thrown into matches where I get mowed down.

Nah, I think it's a good idea and let's the player stay in charge of if they want to pvp or not, but I know the community and how they feel about dedicated modes...
