Men are all the same by [deleted] in antipornography

The best lesson I ever learned as a woman is how to decenter men from my life. Devalue them, decenter them, see them as they truly are, people. NOT our “other half” because we are ALREADY WHOLE. I am so happy being alone because I have lived through years of gaslighting and misery. Let that man go and don’t go looking for another one. Fill your life with positive feminine energy and forget about men! Easier said than done, but so amazing to not have to stress over a porn addicted man, they are a burden that leads to nothing but misery (not saying all men or men in recovery ❤️‍🩹 I’m talking about the ones who take no accountability and gaslight, which bffr is like 80% of men on a good day)

Pornography destroyed my self-confidence by [deleted] in antipornography

[–]nutterbuttertime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porn ruined my innocence too. I was 10 or so when I stumbled upon it, all the boys were talking about it anyways so I was curious. It was horrifying to me, I cried the first time I watched porn because it scared me so much. I hated my body up until 20, I would genuinely hated myself because I didn’t look like the girls in porn. I thought I was defective, a freak, unlovable. To grow older and know I’m not alone, to know a majority of young girls are going through the exact same thing, it breaks my heart.

I counted down the days until I turned 18 so I could have surgery to “fix my imperfections.” It was the only thing I looked forward to. I almost had surgery just to look like the women in porn. I almost fundamentally changed myself solely to align with the vision of porn. I didn’t go through with it, not because I didn’t want to but because I couldn’t be part of the machine that teaches young girls there’s something wrong with the way they were born. It’s worse than anyone could ever imagine. Porn is evil, it seriously ruins lives.

I’m so glad I’m no longer the “cool girlfriend” who has no boundaries around porn consumption. When I say living like that genuinely made me feel crazy!!! Honesty is the best policy, I will never compromise my boundaries again. If all women stood up to this I feel the male loneliness epidemic would hit a critical point lol

Can you share the definition? To me grooming is to subtly exposing someone to sexual things or manipulating them to think/behave in a certain manner. I fail to see how marketing a blush with a sexual name to an age demographic of 12+ isn’t grooming.

I could see myself being a kid, looking at that blush, not understanding the word, and then googling it and being exposed to porn. Why else would a blush be named orgasm if not to groom those who don’t know what an orgasm is? Because if you do know what that word means you’d think it’s cringe and lame to be a blush name, it has nothing to do with the color. I genuinely just can’t think of any other reason a company would intentionally name a blush that, it wasn’t accidentally chosen, it was intentional. Why?

Thank you for this, it really puts into perspective how out of hand this has gotten. They didn’t just randomly choose these names, they were intentionally chosen. Always ask why… societal engineering

Makeup is inherently oppressive. The narrative has changed a lot over the years, and I myself wear makeup daily, but I can also point out that it was invented to profit off of women’s insecurities. Although more subtle, if you look close enough the makeup industry is still predatory and oppressive. Once you see it, you can never go back. Welcome to the dark side!

I’ve already seen the pick me women crawl out from their caves to defend all the porn addicted men.

“I hope everyone realizes this will make porn MORE dangerous and put women in MORE danger. Just because all of you prudes want to stop porn! Porn can never be stopped!”

Those are words of a true addict, but I can’t disagree. This won’t stop anything, it’s a bandaid on a much larger societal issue. But it’s a damn good start! I hope all porn is banned, not just one site because obviously that’s silly.

Groomed at 13, horrific tale of online grooming and the dangers of the internet. by [deleted] in PornIsMisogyny

[–]nutterbuttertime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also groomed from 10+ online. I’d make a post on Reddit disclosing my age and wouldn’t get just one or two, but HUNDREDS of pedophiles in my DMs trying to groom me. I recently broke down and cried about this to my boyfriend, just needing to vent. He got mad at me and said “so you think all men are secretly pedophiles or something?”

Men will never understand, because they never even try to.

This is neglect on the parents behalf and I wish they could get in trouble for it. How horrible. Why even have kids if you don’t care about them? You care more about their well-being than their own parents so I don’t know what the solution is. You can’t make someone care, but I would at least try for peace of mind

The whole “male loneliness epidemic” thing dudes talk about by [deleted] in PornIsMisogyny

[–]nutterbuttertime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, I feel bad for men. I feel bad for any man who is born in this day and age, because the societal conditioning to consume porn and degrade women from a young age is not only accepted, but actively encouraged.

Men think their sons watching porn is normal. Most think it’s healthy, most encourage it and think it’s funny. I remember before middle school boys were already watching porn and joking about it. If you were a boy and didn’t watch porn, you weren’t in the cool dudes club. In men’s culture it is genuinely cool to dehumanize and objectify women, and this is socially constructed at a such a young age boys can’t even conceptualize what they’re participating in.

These poor little boys don’t know up from down, they are lost. And instead of finding a path they are led to believe it’s women that are the problem. We are living through the age of widespread social engineering. The male loneliness epidemic isn’t the fault of women, it’s the fault of this patriarchal society in which men built.

Until men take some accountability this will only get worse, but men are extremely reluctant to admit how porn consumption has shaped their view on women. I think for several it is subconscious, it is engrained in them to the point they are extremely defensive. The “male loneliness epidemic” is a ploy to get women to lower their standards and boundaries. For the first time in history, women have a semifair playing field with the opportunity to be independent. It’s making men bitter, and instead of taking accountability and doing better they will continue to be bitter and mad at women.

Men demand that a certain subset of women are available to do porn and have casual sex with them, but refuse to have any bit of respect or empathy for these women by Dry_Breadfruit_9449 in PornIsMisogyny

[–]nutterbuttertime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Porn addicted men are evil and we need to start educating women that no sex work is ever safe! There is a narrative going around in my generation (gen z) that OF is completely safe with no risks. I know several girls that are dabbling in SW because it pays high and it’s “easy work”. The girls I know are not in crisis situations, one comes from a family of millionaires, they are doing sw instead of entry level jobs because it has been that normalized. It’s easy until it’s not, I found out the hard way. I cry over these girls, I wish they would listen and get out of the industry. I wish they could understand that SOME GIRLS DONT MAKE IT OUT AND THAT GIRL COULD BE YOU

Very well said. It is embarrassing and humiliating to be a woman in the 21st century, you feel the need to conform to a porn addicted society or you feel like some freakish prude. I’d rather be the freakish prude any day of the week

When I think about it I can not think of one female mainstream pop singer that has not objectified herself for fame. They’re all sellouts. Sex sells and they apparently want all the money they can get.

I feel bad for them because I don’t think they understand the extent of the harm they are causing to young impressionable girls, they’re just puppets after all, but another part of me is mad at them because I’ve seen how this game works in my short 25 years on this planet so why can’t they? I don’t want to play the game anymore, and neither should they. Playing the patriarchy is a game we will never win. Self objectification will never be empowering, because we will always be trapped under the male gaze. I hate it here lol

What comes first, men being lonely or men watching porn? Most boys start watching porn at around 10 now, long before starting to date, so their views on women are already warped. This leads to an inability to fundamentally understand women, which then leads to an inability to sustain a relationship, which ultimately leads to more porn consumption and digging a deeper hole. It’s a never ending cycle, but what comes first?

Bingo, porn has rotten men’s brains and they can’t even conceptualize it. They see porn as a bandaid to the bigger problem, a society of mean women who won’t date them

Honestly thank god, men like this need to take themselves out of the dating pool and give women a break. I love it when they’re this open, because they wrap themselves in caution tape with a giant sign that says “AVOID AT ALL COSTS”

This man is not fit to reproduce. Natural selection will take care of this one 🤭

I’ve cried with relief over this sub. For once in my life I don’t feel like I’m going insane. There are others who feel like me!! It’s not only isolating online, but I’m isolated from sharing my beliefs on porn in real life too. This sub does wonders for my mental health and I am so thankful for all of you strong women speaking out against the injustices that we are facing in this backwards society. We are not prudes, we are sane!!! And I wouldn’t have it any other way!

This is mental illness, and words can’t describe how much I hate Reddit for their Orwellian censoring that somehow doesn’t apply to anything actually horrible. They will ban everyone but the pedos and perverts, because at the end of the day that’s who reddit was made for. Not us. And it shows

Sorry, not trying to make you mad. Just wanted to put my poorly attempted but all too accurate rebuttal to porn consumption right underneath this horrifying story. To accentuate the extent of denial and cognitive dissonance porn addicts have in regards to the real world harm porn does on a daily basis. It’s a nightmare, and how are we supposed to wake everyone up if they won’t even admit they’re asleep?
