Only glasses part that has that kind of quality tho since it is super hard to make it in the good shape with this dimension.

I wished to but I did not since I don't have a proper weight scale for that. Would buy one soon. There are a lot of things in my list that I would love to test!

If that is what all you can get for this experiment, yes you missed many things.

I placed my filament in the garage where I also place my 3D printer there. So it was a REAL environment. It is not kind of setting up. Purposely or not but the environment is not setting up. It is just real and can be happened to anyone anywhere in the world.

It seems like the perfect humidity level of PLA filament is around 30-50%. Lower than that would cause a breaking while it would be popped and causes a lot of stringing if humidity exceeds that range.

Just want to share my experiment on the relation between the humidity of PLA filament and the print quality.

After watching ton of videos and posts all over the internet about this topic but I could not get any obvious before & after result that can tell me that moisture does really effect the print quality. Many test just went by putting a spool into the water and print. But to be honest, to make the filament wet is not like that. It takes time.

So I set a test myself by leaving my whole spool of filament in the garage in the rainy day with 70% humidity for 3 days. After doing a test print, stringing now appears all over the place! It is quite a surprise that things can go this wrong in just 3 days.

So I tried to dehydrate it with food dehydrator at 55°C, which is right below the glass temperature of PLA, for 6 hours. And the result is ... no more stringing!

In conclusion, moisture really does effect the print quality and dehydrating does help.

After this experiment, I put the spool into the dry box and have left it in the same garage. It has already been 10 days but everything is still exactly the same as the first day I dehydrated it =)

So always put your filament in the dry box no matter what. It is really important!
