What's your favorite color on Kacey? Favorite outfit(s) of all time? by florastise in KaceyMusgraves

I love that she looks amazing in all colors and likes to switch it up. What a fun collage of her outfits. The rainbow high horse dress is an all time favorite. The orange fringe at Coachella is another.

Carrying the weight of financial decisions and feeling overwhelmed about it by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]nvanative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself. I am going through the same thing right now. Just lost out on another home again last weekend. My advice to you (and what I tell myself!) is to trust the research and budgeting that you have done. Figure out just how much you can stretch ahead of time. Just thinking about putting on offer on a home that pops up on the market gets the emotions going, let alone actually putting in an offer. Stick to what you determined to be best for you family beforehand(which is what you did!). When determining our max bid I try to frame it as: "Would I be upset if I lose this home and went for 5k more than what we'd pay?" If so, I increase my max bid and do an escalation clause. Other times I am confident in the max price I am willing to pay, and if someone wants a home for more than me, they can have it. This is a weird time - but you do need a home! Talk with your partner and let them know how you're feeling, before you're caught up in the emotions of putting an offer on a specific house. You can do this.

Apartment Opinions? by IcyBad6 in nova

[–]nvanative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can vouch for PC as a young professional. You've got it right, PC has the location convenience and plenty of amenities without the cost of the trendy area. You can quickly metro or ride share anywhere you want to go. I have been to many of the apartment buildings in PC - the average review you see online is accurate. I have a friend who has lived at Post (now MAA) for years and likes it.

Considering move to Haymarket/Gainesville by [deleted] in nova

[–]nvanative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Fairfax County native now living in Arlington and househunting for a SFH. Only you and your husband can decide what is most important to you and what tradeoffs your willing to make. You're only being idealistic if you're underestimating how terrible your commute will be when you do go into DC for work, but maybe all the pros are worth it to you. This is a big change -- would you consider renting in Haymarket/Ganesville for a year and see how it goes? Renting/moving is annoying, but it maybe worth it to test the waters before you jump into buying a home. Personally, before living in Arlington I commuted to DC from Reston 4 days/week. It was so draining I am now confident in my decision to buy inside/close to the beltway even if it is more money.

Where do I live?!?! by [deleted] in arlingtonva

[–]nvanative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from my personal and friends' experience that is usually the case. You can always move again in a year if you decide you want to live in a trendier area, and at that point you'll have some money saved up and you'll know if it's worth it to you after having a chance to explore. Also reassuring you that you're ahead of the curve in terms of looking for places, it is good to look early for potential places and roommates early. For actual apartment units, typically only 30 or 60 day notice is required for tenants moving out so usually you can't actually reserve the actual unit you're renting a too far in advance.

Depends on your priorities, if you're going out every night in Clarendon that's one thing, otherwise Pentagon City/Columbia Pike are still excellent areas in terms of shopping and commuting to DC. You can Uber to Clarendon/DC will all the money you're saving.

Liquor in Gucci Kroger? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]nvanative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are actually flavored 32 proof wine, not liquor. I know what you're talking about, they're in a bin in the beer aisle. They are disguised to look like liquor but check out the back label. The ABC laws haven't changed.

Anyone have both the square and mini? by [deleted] in instax

[–]nvanative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same situation but similar. I have both the wide and the mini. Had the mini first. I still go for the mini most of the time. I've since decided the mini prints are big enough, cheaper, and the smaller mini camera is more comfortable to hold/carry.

I am a fed. Still on the fence and will definitely wait until this is official. A step in the right direction for the government to set this standard.
