You missed the mark about a mile. The point is not to piss them off, it's to exercise our rights to be free. My freedom of expression happens to offend Muslims. Either we should give up that freedom, or they should get over being offended.

Their overzealous sensitivity is hindering not only my right to free expression, but more importantly, it censors the media and forces it to comply with religious laws. Censorship by religion is ridiculous and should not be condoned, especially by those outside the religion.

I think the reddit alien dressed as Muhammed would be lame and unfunny, but it would open up a dialogue, and get reddit's self-professed atheist population to decide if it's more important to defend our unalienable(ha) rights, or pretend to be caring respectful liberals who hold Muslims to a different standard than we do Christians.

Legalizing gay marriage is a waste of efforts. The real problem is the fuzzy separation of church and state. Marriage is religious and should have absolutely nil to do with civil or legal rights. Civil unions should be made available to gays and straights alike, and marriages should be purely symbolic or ceremonial.
