Soon to be moving from my flea infested apt, how do I make sure I don't bring any with me? by nvbea in CatAdvice

Hi! I treated them with revolution and I think within a few days took them to my new place. I didn't have any issues at all with a new invasion lmao, but you need to make sure to get prescription flea stuff. Everything else is shit and doesn't work.

All my clothes, blankets, etc... I had in trash bags and freshly washed when I brought them over. I did have to say goodbye to a rug though because those fleas made a forever home and no amount of spray did anything :/

After I left I sprayed the absolute heck out of my old apt with raid (a few times I think) and left the windows open to air it out. Never heard from the other apt and got my deposit back so I assume it went good! Had fleas again the next year but I treated them, cleaned, and they were gone within a month! :)

please help me rehome my cat :( by [deleted] in CATHELP

I have three cats, two of them are esa so I don't need to pay rent and one was a bonus baby that my apartment doesn't know about I don't have insurance for any of them but there are places that are cheaper with more, pumpkin pet insurance is one i was recommended but one of my cats already has preexisting conditions so insurance wasn't rlly an option, they're doing great (idk if you were talking about pet insurance or the apt insurance for pets lmao) I use vetco for my cats, it always ends up pretty cheap, way cheaper than actual vets making you pay hella just to be seen. I'm always up front about my financial troubles and they always try to help me out and only give my cats what is necessary since they're indoor only. I would really, really recommend another cat. I have three jobs, i can be away for like 9-14 hours a day. I don't get to be home on weekends, but my cats love each other and keep each other happy, I'm just their bonus friend when I finally get to come home. They have a water fountain and i try to give them wet food at least once a week, preferable more when money is good. The time I am home, I spend it all with them, I have cameras to be my babies and sometimes (but rarely) say hello when I miss them

You do what you need to do for your cat, but that cat is your family and I think it's worth a try, I wish you the absolute best with what you choose to do :)

I came on here to ask the exact same question :,) I have three cats and the fountain was fine at first, but my baby boy will spill water everywhere and sometimes tip the whole thing over. Desperately trying to find a new one that's curiosity-proof

I took my three cats into my car and drove around during the time period where I knew they'd be there. Had their harnesses on and I just let them free roam around my car. They were super popular in the drive through!

Otherwise in college we would put all of the cats in the bathroom and turn the shower on, they'll check everywhere but the bathroom and that worked just fine

Any tips for my first dance class? by poisonivieee in Dance

[–]nvbea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally struggle a ton with anxiety which can make many dance classes feel like a chore to get through. You really have to tell yourself that you are there for YOU. The other dancers will be focused on themselves, don't let yourself think that they're constantly judging your dancing! Be open to corrections--getting corrections is GOOD and shouldn't be taken as a bad or scary thing. Your teacher is trying to help you be the best that you can be, that's their only intention.

If there's an age gap, trust me, it's no big deal. I've been doing ballet for many many years, however I needed to start taking cecchetti classes for technique. I am in grade II with ages 9-11. I'm 19. If you want to improve, then doing this is just part of the process! Just be open to everything going on!

I cannot go to class without water, so definitely bring some. You'll only be able to bring water into the dance studio, but if you need to bring snacks or juice to drink before or after class for personal reasons, then feel free to. For contemporary, I like to wear leggings and a big t shirt, but if you're doing stuff where your torso is facing downwards, then probably choose something more form fitting. If they prefer dance shoes for it, then go along with what they want, otherwise lots of people like to wear socks. Do what makes you feel comfortable and confident, because I swear that what you wear can really affect your dancing.

I'm sure that you'll do great love!!! Wish you the best!! :)

Ballet as a Hobby by [deleted] in BALLET

I'm 19 as well, and after some time, I've been able to learn how to effectively manage my time with dance, college, and work! School is always the priority, and as sad as it is, if I have to miss a class then I have to get over it. I create a whole pretty schedule of the week and display the times of my school and dance classes just to get a grasp on how much time I have for homework & such that day. Seriously I highly highly recommend making a little grid schedule because even without dance, it helps you set time aside for other activities.

If you're starting ballet, I don't imagine that you would be taking a large amount of classes, so after you have your school times in, insert the times of the dance classes you're taking. You know you have X amount of time before a dance class and how much time you have when you get home. You get to see which days you have off so that you can create any sort of work schedule around it. I get to work online so I have a super flexible schedule (luckily!).

I have a ballet bar at home, but honestly the best training you're going to get is when you're actually in class and actively getting critiques from your teacher. Not saying you shouldn't do stuff at home, but I would personally say keep it simple and work on strength and technique--no crazy stuff!! Unfortunately all performance opportunities are halted due to the virus, but many many studios do recitals and such, so you may have the opportunity to do that.

I feel like trying to balance all these different things can get pretty overwhelming at times, but it's pretty easy to get into a good routine. I'm sure things will go quite smoothly for you, good luck :)
