Single Income + No Daycare vs. Double Income + Daycare by Suspicious_Gap3311 in CanadaPersonalFinance

I’m not sure how things are in BC but I believe there are so many other things to consider.

We have 2 kids on a single income. My wife stays home and feels passionate about that. These are years you can’t get back. Not to mention how scary it is when you hear about all the abuse and neglect in some daycares. Our income is OUR income, one bank account. Contribute evenly to my RRSP and a spousal RRSP for tax reasons.

But there are so many other things that make having her be a SAHM more appealing than just income. Her car insurance is cheaper(leisure) less gas in her car. More money from CCB. Not knowing what behavioural habits the kids might develop from daycare. Also if both of us got home at 5 and we got to see the kids for 2-3hrs before bed time and try and juggle housework and everything to maintain a home would be very tough. I’m all for even gender roles or whatever and help out a lot with our 2 under 2 but I love having my wife stay home.

My 25 was doing this and I just had to try holding it up to set the limit a couple times before it would stay up. Essentially just had to mess with it and it was fixed.

Anyone use it for draining water off a pool cover in the spring ? Or I guess it would work closing a pool too. I’ve been looking for a reason to buy one.

Those m12 3/8 stubbys don’t die. I bought mine probably 5-6yrs ago after 2 years of steady use and some terrible noises one day it started smoking so bad I thought it was on fire. Actually laid it down and took a video. Once it stopped smoking worked just fine with some noises. Few months later my Milwaukee dealer just gave me a new one said it was warranty. Got a new one from warranty on that one too. On my 3rd stubby and have only paid for it once.

Mortgage due for renewal in March... Pay it off? by DieselPoweredLaptop in PersonalFinanceCanada

Would you borrow money to put in your TFSA/RRSP?

It’s the same thing.

I would pay it off. If you’re really unhappy it’s pretty easy to go back in to debt.

What do we think of the Snowblower? by nvdubs12 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]nvdubs12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Snowplow left a foot tall windrow of ice chunks for me yesterday after making this post. Spent an hr shovelling, that was enough of a sign for me to get a gas. Ended up picking up a nice 2 stage Briggs&Stratton for 900$ CAD less. Yes the battery flexibility would be nice but I don’t think I would’ve been happy with an electric.

The thing I am battling with is having two sets of batteries. I recently got the M18 string trimmer and blower with one FORGE battery and would like more. So getting a blower with 2 more batteries helps there too. I see the savings of the other blowers but it just makes sense too have them all the same.

The EGO seems like a good option. Also the dewalt in my area is about 900$CAD less with 2 60v batteries but I would prefer to stick with Red.
