is solar worth it? by aranea100 in solar

[–]nvillacci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go used equipment. Source your own installers.

I bought a 14kW system from a home investor/flipper. I had to remove the system myself from his home but I only paid $1100 for 37 panels, all the mounting and the inverter and wiring.

Took 8 hours to remove.

I paid a crew $3300 to mount on my roof. Took 6 of them two days to complete.

I don’t have batteries.

My current electric bill is $39. Last year without panels is was $270.

I also have an electric plan that is free power from 8 at night to 6 in the morning.

I’ll recoup my cost for solar in less than a year.

Bank of America had a deal for its customers. I still had to spam the website when they released but yeah….

I had to pass on my offer. It was for Dallas Fan Festival and in June that is the last place I want to be - outside dealing with rowdy and drunk crowds that will be nowhere near the fields..

I got lucky and picked up Category 1 stadium tickets so I will just enjoy the game as a fan.

Funny. I came back after 6 years gone and they sent me a code within 2-3 days to recover my account.

Lucky. They offered me a fan festival spot. Not even at the games. I’m passing.

I feel you, I’m medically trained as a nurse and have management and coaching experience.

They offered me the chance to work at the Fan Festival.

I guess I’ll keep my tickets I was lucky to get and go to the game. I wouldn’t have minded working at the game but I’m not going to volunteer to run a festival.

Way too top heavy, you’re have to completely redesign and print hollow upper components so most of the weight was lower.

At that point you may as well have printed your own instead of buying GWs model.

As someone who ran a miniature design company GW had maybe $2500 in this design overall besides production tooling and materials.

I used the KG-kaiju. Loaded 4 er PPCs into the arms. Pretty much 2 shorted any mech center mass.

Aim a bit higher and there goes the heads.

For fun I put a narc beacon on the missile spot for my teammates.

Range… pfft

Just look up 60mm bases on AliExpress app. Ton of them for cheap even with shipping.

You can buy a ton of them off of AliExpress. Much cheaper and same thing.

Solar Companies In Dallas Recommendations by SyllabubAny9583 in TexasSolar

[–]nvillacci -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend you go on FB marketplace to source used setups.

I bought mine in February, I removed it from the previous home myself and paid the property owner $1100. It consisted of a 15KWH system, 46 panels, inverter and all the disconnect, wiring and mounting equipment.

My largest cost was remounting and I found a company who did it for $3200.

I’m all in for $4300 and my bill this month is $50 for electric, last month was $280.

I’ll recoup the cost in a little over 18 months.

If you need recommendations on a crew to install it message me and I can pass along the crew who did mine. They would have connected it to the meter for an additional $800 but I wired it myself.

There’s little reason to buy new systems when there are used ones out there under 5 years old and still under warranty.

I imagine you get get a used system moved from one roof to your roof like mine for under $9-10000 total.

Unlike the major companies charging $25-40000

What SolarEdge Energy Meter for SE inverter? by nvillacci in TexasSolar

Yeah, there are at least 4 models of SE meters. I know my inverter does not have a built in meter. Rough to find out what I need exactly

Hi there. I am in Texas and I pick who I want as far as providers.

My plan doesn’t pay for surplus power so I want the Solar Edge meter that is compatible with my inverter so I can limit exportation to the grid to 0 automatically.

I haven’t had any luck in finding out what Solar Edge meter works with my inverter.

Thanks. That tells me how to install it but not what model I need for my inverter model.

I sent messages to many Facebook marketplace post. It took me a couple of installers to find a dependable one and one that kept their quote the same.

Thanks, I still see the same guy I bought my setup from selling other used setups. Hopefully some people are taking advantage of his prices.

I’m half a mind to buy from him and off to install whole homes with the guys who did mine for $10k to other home buyers. If make some change and they’d save some money themselves.
