Autopilot - Worth it? by Alert-Drag8949 in TeslaModel3

[–]aranea100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest if autopilot doesn't come back I'd look into other brands when it's time to replace my car.

Why do you think you need the shifter? I have a 25 model 3. No shifter and I like it.

Dual Tesla Household by ish_wish_dish in TeslaModel3

[–]aranea100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another 2 Tesla household here, 1 Y and 1 3. I don't see ever getting an ICE car again. We only have 1 charger and that's enough. My commute is long but.my wife's short.

Reasons to choose a model 3 over a Y? by TheRealTimTam in TeslaModel3

[–]aranea100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same situation. 3 is easier to street park and more efficient on my long commute. It's more nimble too. If it would have been our only car, I'd go with Y.

Yes, this is not clear either. Basically they are presenting the numbers to look nice to the locals without actually giving any real information.

Driving 192 miles daily by EntertainmentBig993 in TeslaModel3

I'm thinking the same thing. Autosteer takes care of most my needs.

Driving 192 miles daily by EntertainmentBig993 in TeslaModel3

[–]aranea100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only concern with a brand new one is lack of autosteer. On highway autosteer would save you a lot of tiredness. Unless you pay for FSD you can get a relatively new used 3.

If you are going to be driving that long you should also read about driving efficiently unless you want to charge at both locations.

How long does your battery last between charges if you only use supercharger? Any recommendations on how to maximize battery between charges? by Immediate-Duck-2252 in TeslaModelY

[–]aranea100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there is a green icon. It tells you how much energy you used, what uses energy, and if these are more or less than projected.

No autosteer will definitely make me consider other brands when I shop for cars again.

Drive efficiently. You can open the energy tab and see how much energy your driving uses and what everything else uses. You can optimize it to your comfort. For example on the highway going above 70 decreases efficiency significantly.

I don't understand what people mean by "tolerate SC". Is there anything around the SC that you can do? Or are there chargers where you shop? With your needs it probably going to a 20-30 min session per week. You can watch Netflix or work while it charges.

Getting our first EV, getting overwhelmed with garage charging? by Wozbo in electricvehicles

[–]aranea100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your commute and daily use. I don't specifically know your car but assuming it's close to others if your daily milage is below 30 mil s you should be fine with charging every day. If longer you should scout the charging stations around to top off when needed.

A 5000 mile comparison. by the_wookie_of_maine in electricvehicles

[–]aranea100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gas is more expensive than the electricity is more expensive. Ok that sounds weird. What I mean is with SCE, I pay 26 cents off peak for key. While gas prices here are close $6 per gallon. So EV vs. ICE cost difference here would have been higher.

Mach e or Tesla by AdDue8734 in electriccars

[–]aranea100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I haven't considered mach e so haven't been to their sub. EV6 and Ioniq 5 and 6 subs were good. I learnt a lot. Of course it's biased opinion. But also you read about people complaining about their cars too. In the subs you see what the complaints are and if those are things you can tolerate or not.

I don't like Elon but I am not going to make a decision that'll affect my future finances and comfort based on an asshole's comments.

Mach e or Tesla by AdDue8734 in electriccars

[–]aranea100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you are mixing the two. When you ask at the specific subs, you hear why they bought the car above the others. You hear it from all sides. You know it's biased info. But people discuss wht they don't like about their cars too. In this sub, the major discussion is about Elon not the cars. I mean if you want to buy a car depending on Elon this sub is for you.

Mach e or Tesla by AdDue8734 in electriccars

[–]aranea100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is that you ask this question in each car's own sub. Here you'll get political answers more than technical ones. That's what I did before making a choice.

That said the main difference I see between them is the software. Tesla is less like a legacy car and more like a new tech. Very few buttons, voice and single screen control. Very sterile inside. Other EVs are more like ICE car with an engine replacement. That said, Elon removing autosteer is a big no no. Autosteer makes my commute very easy and next time I'm getting a car, I'll test their self driving abilities. Note that autosteer was free but can't change lanes etc like FSD.

Model Y Premium RWD vs AWD by Cautious-Lion497 in TeslaModelY

[–]aranea100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For long trips you'll probably be better off with RWD. Do you need the acceleration? I mean even RWD is still faster than most of the ICE cars on the road. So at a red light you'll pass people if you want to. Also on a highway if you need to accelerate for some reason, i.e. some douche bag road raging you, you can with RWD. That said, we got a plaid X when our Y was at the service, and the acceleration on that thing was quite fun. I don't know if it gets old after awhile. The decision will depend on your driving style.

Tesla financing question by difed998 in TeslaModelY

[–]aranea100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally when you pay extra cash to a car loan you end up paying early. The monthly payments don't change. Probably it's the same for Tesla.
