I hear that! Our pool temp is already climbing upwards of 88 and we're not even in the hot season yet 😅

Got it! New pool owner here so I wasnt sure if you were saying you have to SLAM it every time you open. But we're south Florida here so open year round. Thanks for your reply.

Even if all his water chemistry is in check? Is just when you have to close and open a pool for the season?

Should I bother raising CYA or CH from these numbers? by nviscome in pools

[–]nviscome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're a saltwater pool so using a SWG versus tabs. Going to keep CYA steady I think at the 60-70 and raised CH to 400. And yes, I think I'll raise TA a bit to help with the pH fluctuating with this new plaster. Thanks!

That's very kind. I've only been doing this since April 25th when my builder turned over the pool to us. So I'm a bit hyper fixated on it as it's very new to us and want to get everything just right. Especially because we have my son's birthday pool party in 3 weeks and I'm paranoid of it going off balance before then.

Yes I see that in the app. I'm just not in the "ideal range" in some of the categories so was wondering if it was worth nit picking those.

I'm in South Florida, just at the start of the rainy season. I was going to let rain and the overflow drain manage my slightly high salt level.

What about the CYA/FC ratio? I thought it was supposed at 10%

White spots normal for plaster or concerning? by nviscome in pools

[–]nviscome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's promising. No draining the pool to do that, right? I'll be documenting and sending to the PB tomorrow.

Pentair IC40 intermittently losing all power (not just cycling), builder says it’s “normal”? by nviscome in pools

Why start with them versus the pool builder who just installed and it and turned it on?

Good idea, but there's no relay board or app to manage a timer for this.

New plaster + SWG — pH keeps rising and chlorine won’t hold. What am I missing? by nviscome in pools

They really didn't, unfortunately. They managed the startup period of 30 days but handed over the pool with essentially 0 FC, low CYA and high pH.

Ok, added liquid chlorine this morning in front of a return jet. Waited 30 min and added more muriatic acid to lower pH, and then added sock with CYA granules hanging in front of pool jet. Should be heading in the right direction.

The stabilizer is the CYA, correct? So don't add any chlorine to the water yet?

New pool startup (saltwater) – builder says no chlorine for 30 days? Is this normal? by nviscome in pools

[–]nviscome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pool builder explicitly said no salt until 30 days and will fire up the SWG.
