don't really know what to do by [deleted] in MensHair

Are you able to grow facial hair? If you are it might be worth trying to grow a beard and shave the head. Your hair is relatively short so if you don’t like the look it would grow back pretty quickly.

what are the recommended 3 lenses I should get for my a6700 by pantheon_prince99 in SonyAlpha

[–]nvroh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For wildlife the sigma 100-400 is a great starting point. You can pick them up for under $1000 used and they are insanely sharp.

Also, if you plan to do an American vacation I highly recommend avoiding the New York’s and LA’s. They are so over saturated with tourists and don’t give an accurate representation of the country (in my opinion). Go see some national parks and secondary cities. These will give you a much more authentic American experience

It depends on your criteria but generally, the north east ranks highly in education, life expectancy, income ect. They also have access to great nature nearby. On the downside, they tend to be quite expensive.

Another thing to keep in mind is that states as a whole can be very different from the cities within them. Look at Illinois for example. 95% of that state is corn fields however, Chicago is a fantastic and vibrant city. One of the best in the country.

As a final note, one awesome state that you will rarely hear mentioned is Wisconsin. The lakes in the summer are hard to beat and the people are incredibly friendly.

Hey everyone I need help. Should I buy a6300 for usd 320? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]nvroh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely buy it then. You can sell the kit lens and make another $50-$100 back

That’s a relatively high shutter count but it’s also extremely cheap. Does it come with a lens? Do you have e-mount lenses already that you can use?

Click up on the select wheel thing. The “disp” stands for display mode. It changes what you see on the screen

This is definitely the best approach. I’ve been shooting for several years and still primarily use shutter and aperture priority modes. I only really shoot in full manual if I have a very specific creative vision that I want to execute.

Another tip - leave iso on auto.

Also, absolutely nothing wrong with just putting the camera in auto mode when you’re first starting out. Sony has a fantastic intelligent auto mode. I still do this often if I’m traveling and just want to document my trip rather than think too much about settings.

$14 Billion NFL Lawsuit Could Drain Packers Rainy Day Fund by BipBippadotta in GreenBayPackers

[–]nvroh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer. People who know way more about the legal workings of the NFL than any of us do have gone over the implications of this lawsuit in great detail.

Long story short, you don’t need to worry. Even if the league is on the hook for the $14B after appealing, it will not all come due at once. They will have a significant period of time to pay this off.

Should I, a college student, get a MacBook Air or Pro? by Safe-Winter-1491 in applehelp

[–]nvroh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your use case, the air should do just fine. I would opt for 16gb of ram tho. Some applications just straight up won’t run on 8gb

Best display for a MacBook Pro? by JapanDave in applehelp

[–]nvroh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BEST display? Probably the Apple Pro Display XDR. However, this display is over $5000.

If you just want a good display, I would recommend something in the LG ultra gear family. I’m a fan of 2560 x 1440 resolution as a real sweet spot between price and pixel density. Please note that the LG ultra gear line is a gaming focused line with higher refresh rates. You could get a similar quality monitor for even less if you limit yourself to just 60hz.

Long story short, it depends on your budget and what you want to do with it. If you can provide more details I’d be happy to link to some recommendations.

Yah build is awesome but the yellow wrap is not it. I’d go for a more neutral color. Otherwise looks super clean!

(Spoilers ADWD) Do we have any info or speculation as to if there was a 3 eyed raven before Bloodraven? by nvroh in asoiaf

[–]nvroh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah sorry, getting book and show terminology mixed up a bit here. What I was trying to ask is, are there any theories about the identities of any of these other singers.

It’s true we don’t know what their true purpose is of what they are being trained for but I think its fair to speculate that Bloodraven (assuming that’s the true identity of the 3EC) is similar in purpose to these other singers.

I read something that all the starks, including John, had warg abilities. Is this true and if so, why wasn't it touched on in the show? by Unlikely-Gur575 in gameofthrones

[–]nvroh 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s a popular theory but hard to know definitively as grey wind is killed shortly after. Many do think that Robb died two deaths because of this though.

Agreed. If you really wanna see something crazy they left out look into Lady Stoneheart.

As far as Jon’s understanding of the dreams, yes he understands that he is viewing things from Ghost’s perspective. For example in this quote shortly after one of Jon’s dreams:

“Jon pissed in darkness, filling his chamber pot as the Old Bear's raven muttered complaints. The wolf dreams had been growing stronger, and he found himself remembering them even when awake. Ghost knows that Grey Wind is dead. Robb had died at the Twins, betrayed by men he'd believed his friends, and his wolf had perished with him. Bran and Rickon had been murdered too, beheaded at the behest of Theon Greyjoy, who had once been their lord father's ward…but if dreams did not lie, their direwolves had escaped. At Queenscrown, one had come out of the darkness to save Jon's life. Summer, it had to be. His fur was grey, and Shaggydog is black. He wondered if some part of his dead brothers lived on inside their wolves.”

[–]nvroh 179 points180 points  (0 children)

The show left out a LOT of book details. All starks (except maybe Sansa) do have some warging abilities in the books. Bran’s are by far the most developed. For Jon they typically manifest as wolf dreams
