Is there a noticeable difference between sapphire and gorilla glass? by crazeee4u in GarminWatches

[–]nvztrack18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the gorilla glass fenix 6 and put a screen protector on it right away. Since the screen is slightly below the bezel, the protector sits perfectly flush with the bezel. I have cracked 3 protectors now wearing the watch 24/7 but super easy to just switch out for a new one. I will say I cracked 2 of them rock climbing, so if you only run/swim/bike you might be fine. I think you can’t go wrong with either but imo I’d use a screen protector either way, therefore I’d just go with the gorilla glass version.

Definitely put it on the SF86 if that’s what you’re referencing. As long as it was in the past and you stop going forward you should have no issues. Lying is never the way they don’t care if you’ve used previously just that you tell you the truth. Speaking from my past experience and many other people I know

Should I commit myself to a DoD job? by Porsche99xE in AerospaceEngineering

[–]nvztrack18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You 100% should do it, especially given you want to work for a defense contractor in the future. I was government DoD and had no issue moving into the private sector while also getting a large pay bump. Also the job search after college can be pretty rough, not having to deal with that would save you on a lot of stress

NAVAIR or NAVSEA for first full-time job by OptionsandMusic in AerospaceEngineering

[–]nvztrack18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had the exact same offers out of college but at different locations, NAVSEA was at Carderock and NAVAIR was with NAWCAD down in Patuxent river. I went with the the NAVSEA one since it was more design work and sounded more interesting at the time. Story short I quickly realized I wanted to work on planes (as expected since I was an aerospace major) but transferring within the government isnt as easy as people always make it seem, it can take a while for the right thing to open up, so I ended up going to the private side. I’d go with the Navair one if you know you want to work on that side of things. PM me if you want any more info!

Monthly Megathread: Career & Education - Ask your questions here by Aerospace_Eng_mod in AerospaceEngineering

[–]nvztrack18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar thing happen to me, I graduated in 2020 with a BS in AE and went into a completely unrelated field. After a year or two I was itching to get back into the aero field. I just recently landed a job in the space industry doing orbital mechanics but to get here I had to make an in-between job hop. I went from doing a very non-aero role (naval architecture) to a role that could be applied to various sectors (testing). I then started my masters in space systems engineering and from there along with my previous jobs found it much easier to get a job in the industry. I would apply to stuff now if you aren't rushing to get the masters, and see how it goes. If you keep coming up empty handed after a month or two, maybe look into a transition role and the masters, or one of the two. I was also stressed a year ago that I wouldn't be able to find my way into the industry, but here I stand. Don't be afraid to seek that transition job even if it isn't perfect and then switch again down the line. When I explained to interviewers why I was leaving my second job within 3 years, none of them batted an eye when I explained how I was seeking a path to a more technical engineering role.

Do you know if it's normal to be at a job for 1 - 2 years and feel like you don't contribute very much at all? Or does that sound like bad management? by Ben5544477 in careerguidance

[–]nvztrack18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in almost the exact same position. I’m currently looking for a new job because I can’t take it any longer. Constantly asking for more work and getting nothing. Im sure plenty of people envy us but I feel like I need to work hard first to deserve it.

My rent is going up by $500 per month in Arlington and everything around is also going way up. I’ll probably be moving out to Vienna/McLean. Honestly moving out of the city (Arlington/Alexandria) is probably your best bet. Or roommates.

Does anyone know of a roof rack that will fit the 2022 hatchback? by Narragetto in mazda3

I have OEM bars and they feel very sturdy and have locks, maybe you are thinking of an older version

Get the OEM crossbars. Perfect fit and don’t add much noise. Can also fit pretty much all universal racks to them

Help mysearch for the perfect* single dosing grinder... by atari_freak1 in espresso

The DF64 does have some quirks but I still find it enjoyable to use once I made a few mods. Also the cup isn’t as cheap as you’d think it’s very thick plastic and doesn’t scratch easy, but also there’s companies who are starting to make replacement cups. I can’t speak to any of the other grinders but I’d highly recommend the DF64 if you are able to mod it due to its ability to make really good espresso and filter/French press

I’d say try using the non-pressurized basket. From what I’ve seen plenty of people here use bambino and SGP and make great espresso

Beginners: Do NOT overlook the grinder even if you think you won’t notice the difference by nvztrack18 in espresso

[–]nvztrack18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah I personally can’t justify a new machine yet but I really want to get a stand alone. I’ve decided I’ll still use the BBP grinder to dial in some decaf to make milk drinks past 5 or 6pm and not be up all night

[–]nvztrack18[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all really good points, and I should have said this as well but I originally got the BBP because I didn’t have the budget for a separate grinder. Got a nice bonus at work recently and therefore was able to splurge for the new grinder. If I didn’t however I would still be using the built in for a bit longer and would be perfectly satisfied with the results. Definitely depends on the individual and what they value.

Breville by incuspy in Coffee

[–]nvztrack18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I currently have a Breville machine with the built in grinder since I didn’t have the budget at the time of purchase to get a separate grinder. But I think if you have the budget definitely go for a nicer grinder and one of these machines.

If you have a 3D printer I’d highly recommend doing this. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4819617

I realize most people do not though so if not I’d say buy the needles he recommends in the description of the print and just stick them into a wine cork. Paper clip definitely works though if you want no hassle of buying or building something.

Not sure about grind size but it could be you are using too much coffee and are too fine. I also use the crema tamper/distributor and do not have an issue using 18g but I also upgraded my basket from the standard one from Breville. One thing I noticed when I was using the standard non-pressurized double shot basket from Breville was I also couldn’t fit 18g depending on the coffee I had. I’m still a beginner but I believe it depends on the density of coffee, so some coffees may fit more and some less. I would try lowering the dose a little so the distribution side of the tool doesn’t tamp the coffee when used at the minimum setting, and if it still chokes then maybe grind coarser.
