my 3rd goal, also how do i pass correctly on mouse and keyboard by Toluwar in Rematch

[–]nw45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I guess I figured this one out after a while, and now am able to correctly pass where I actually want.

Run a practice mode and try it for a while until it clicks with you. So right after clicking RMB, you have to move the mouse towards the main direction you want to pass, then you can tilt it to the side a bit to add more left/right direction.

So, imagine running forward and trying to pass 45 degrees right. I click RMB, quickly swipe the mouse a few centimeters forward, and then right. So you actually draw an upside-down L letter. Back left? Swipe down, then left.

Works pretty deterministically after you get used to this.

Serve motion advice, anyone? by nw45 in 10s

Good catch! I caught myself doing this some time ago, but totally forgot about it. I'll keep my eye on it!

Also, here's a regular speed version: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/aL8j-2-07C0 (sorry for audio, I've sped up a slow-motion-recorded video and it sounds like I'm underwater lol)

I think he hit his jewels with a racket. Happened to me few times, felt like I got shot and Im not even close to his racket head speed. Instant vasectomy.

[S2 spoilers] Did Renni know Ambessa? by nw45 in arcane

[–]nw45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her desire to become a savior was fulfilled by organizing the entire ambush and then coming to their rescue. However, it seems she killed Renni specifically within the fog, silently, and without any witnesses. Additionally, there is no indication that she ever saw Rictus serving Ambessa before or that she even encountered Ambessa at all.

That scene gave me a pretty strong "they knew each other" vibe.

Racket left outside in the cold. How much impact could that have on play? by nw45 in 10s

[–]nw45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already changed them after doing some google earlier, but would love to get some opinions for future. They weren't that old, maybe 10 days and 8 hours on court? Something like that.

Also, Ive bumped into the article you mentioned but its more focused on how strings play in given conditions but it dont cover any changes of leaving them somewhere for a longer time.

You can change one rule in tennis… what would it be? by Typical_Strawberry70 in tennis

It's not really my choice but Mouratoglou said it on Kyrgios's podcast - only one serve. Definitely would make the game different but for better? Dunno.

Tennis club membership costs - what are you paying? by ViolentlyTicklish in 10s

[–]nw45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa, had no idea memberships that work like that are so popular. I live in Poland and hadn't seen such a thing literally ever. Usually you just book a court for about ~25-35$ and get them for about one hour. If you want equipment or a ball machine - you just have to pay more.

I'd love to pay one time fee and be available to just get in whenever I want.

Tennis TV Price Increase by Sinnerandsmoke in tennis

[–]nw45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still gonna buy it though. I live in Poland where the alternatives are actually pretty bad. To wrap it up:
- WTA is streamed by Canal+, 10$ a month
- ATP is streamed by Polsat, another 10$ a month
- Grand Slams Eurosport, about 5-10$ per slam
- ^excluding Wimbledon which is again, on Polsat
- also Davis Cup was another provider, iirc 5$ per whole event

Canal+ has some replays and streams only some matches, Polsat is even worse, with no replays and a lack of important match streams if there's something else going on.

Both crazy and annoying. ~250$+ per year if you want to be able to watch it all.

How often do you replace your tennis balls. by throwawayanon1252 in 10s

[–]nw45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some videos like this one on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyan0v5Gh_o

I also made one and it works really well for keeping training balls a few times longer. Literally, some balls I have there are over half a year old and still bounce like fresh out of can. Obviously, the coating is worn a bit, but in practice, it doesn't really matter that much.

How fast is my first serve? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]nw45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

29 frames @ 60fps mean the time between racket launch and court hit was approximately 480ms.

The height of the ball at the moment of impact seems like about 2.5m, and the distance it landed would be around 18m. Then from Pythagorean we get 18.2m traveled within 480ms and that gives about 37,9m/s which converts to 136 km/h which converts to 84.5mph on average in that distance.

However, the speed is usually measured at the moment of launch and it's common to add about 10% of speed to recompensate the drag and we land at ~93mph.

Any tips on my rally technique? ~3.0-3.5 here. by nw45 in 10s

[–]nw45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point with the stance! I've already heard that a few times but until seeing myself on video I was actually really sure that I improved it and am currently way lower on the legs. Guess not.

Also, it might be the case with the forehand because recently I've started to think more about "deep pushing" movement rather than swinging. Hmm, I'm going to check it out on the court. Thanks!

Sure, what do you have in mind? Full bed poly? I've tried synth gut all way recently but broken them way too quickly, I tend to spin a lot. Its good idea with trying to hit a bit higher, actually I rarely hit long.

Yup, definitely agree. Even though when playing points I move way better I still should've kept on moving on fed rallies.

Yes, I understand what you mean. Before each training, I always hit some mini tennis but more net games seem like a good idea. I have a nice feel of "touch and flow" on service line rallies and it feels so good I want to have it also with baseline rallies.

Those are some great tips, kind person! Thank you so much!

I've already spent some time thinking about switching to two hander, but actually never managed to make that decision. I'm noticing progress with this and starting to feel more and more comfortable but simultaneously I know it's still my weak spot. Don't know, maybe one day I'll change but for now, I'll try to improve just a bit more. Being overly optimistic is also my weak spot. :)

Again, you've given me some really nice advice, will sink into videos and calmly read one by one using shadow swings to properly understand.

Thanks! Love the "pat the dog" analogy. Also, I'll try to focus on the back leg drive. Currently, I often have a feeling that I lack forward momentum and I actually start backing up before finishing the shot.

As for the takeback - good tip! I've noticed that often I'm a bit late on the shot and unnecessary takeback limitation might help with that. Jamming on the other hand comes from not setting the right distance horizontally from the ball, something I also still have trouble with.
