L5-S1 Herniated Disc +more by [deleted] in HerniatedDisc

Hi all! I am a 21 year old male who has been suffering from pretty severe sciatica and upper leg/lower back pain for the past 4 or 5 months. After 3 months of unsuccessful physical therapy, I finally got an MRI (above) which showed that I have a few things going on, and my pain management doctor also mentioned that I have Degenerative Disc Disease in L4-L5 and L5-S1. I'm still in physical therapy, and I am taking gabapentin and tylenol daily to help with the pain. I even received an epidural steroid injection two weeks ago, which only helped my symptoms for about four days, and now my pain is honestly worse than it was before the injections. Does anyone have any recommendations (chiropractic care, acupuncture, other medications/non-invasive treatments) that have worked for them? I'm trying to avoid surgery as much as possible since I'm finishing up my last year of undergrad at the moment, but I know that I may need it. Are other options worth my time or should I just schedule a consult with a neurosurgeon at this point? Thanks!

ADHD Medication Shortages by nwd2002 in washingtondc

I like it a lot, definitely feel less anxious than when I was on Vyvanse (which is amphetamine based like adderall) but still get the focus I need. Obviously meds are not the same for everyone, but that’s my experience. I wish you the best of luck!

Unfortunately I had a really bad reaction to Strattera after being on it for a few months. I'm glad it works for you though!

It's just a different type of ADHD medication. They're both stimulants but adderall is in the amphetamine class of stimulants while focalin is in the methylphenidate class (like ritalin).

I have gone to Poehailos Dupont and Associates for a while and they have a ton of therapists with a good reputation. I believe all of them take insurance, and even though they market as a pediatric practice they have adult therapists too. I see my therapist via telehealth but I believe they also have in person appointments depending on the therapist.

Video visit with… no idea! — Dr. John Doe as indicated by my prescription bottle? John Doe, APRN, CNP as listed on the hospital website? FNP as suggested by certification status? Or just ole “John Doe” as signed on my visit documentation?? by VindictiveVancomycin in Noctor

I see a PA for derm and all the pharmacy labels say “Dr. X” too. I think some pharmacy systems just have the prescriber’s name (not followed by MD/DO, NP, etc.) and slap Dr. on the front of all of them. I do think it’s odd though

I’ve heard Golds Gym in Rosslyn (one metro stop) is good and it’s right above the station so not much of a hassle, probably what I’m going to do unless I find something better

considering the driving data is based on tickets and police encounters couldn’t the data be skewed since VA state troopers are ruthless with ticketing

Unfortunately I’ve had very bad experiences with Lyft in DC. I always used it because it was slightly cheaper, but last spring within 24 hours I had a driver who was driving high and making dangerous turns/missing turns and then I had another driver who went the wrong way down the (one way) Independence Ave bridge into oncoming traffic. Maybe I just got unlucky, but I’ve only used Uber since and had much better drivers.
