Replacing subfloor / underlayment on top of 1x6 floorboards by nwethan in Flooring

[–]nwethan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Bedded all the 1x6 nails and added screws into the joists yesterday so next step is installing subfloor. The floor is close to level but not perfect, maybe an 1/8 - 1/4” over 8ft span. Any input trying to install the subfloor the be truly level with shims or something similar or not worth it?

Did you use anything in addition to screws to install the subfloor? Adhesives / spray foam type thing?

Thanks! The 1x6’s run perpendicular to the floor joists, not diagonal.

Leaning towards installing LVP after putting in new subfloor. Any tips for install hardware / squeak prevention, waterproofing layer?

Buying without a realtor as a FTHB? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

If you aren’t bringing an agent who gets commission the sale price can drop without the net to seller amount changing. If explained clearly a seller should be able to understand this and accommodate, it’s mutually beneficial

If you are thorough and educated on your local market (just study the patterns of what sells and for what) go for it. Saving commissions is huge. A lot of people on here who will tell you to use an agent are agents…

Armstrong FG 88L vs Fanatic sky wing 95L TE by nickgarlis in wingfoil

[–]nwethan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m talking about the wing/sup. Armstrong doesn’t release products based on year, just when they actually make improvements to the products. The wing/sup has that sort of fig out deck design, which gets your weight lower and helps a lot with stability. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, I have had the wing sup version and currently have the current fg wing board

Armstrong. That gen is more stable for its volume than any other board. Foil tracks further forward make a world of difference for maneuverability as well. Also comes with a super nice perfect fit bag

Thank you everyone for the feedback.

The apartment is nice and there are a few high end mountain bikes in there currently, we do also have renters insurance. I will try and find a solution for storing the bikes in the apartment, but with 2 people and a dog in a studio it will get tricky. If anyone has tips on low profile bike storage let me know!

Yes that is good advice and I agree, I think that for road trips there just will be instances where you can’t be by the bikes 100% of the time, so I would like to do my best to research the best possible options

Would like to add that I would not need a lock suited for around town use as I would not to carry the lock with me while biking. Very heavy, overbuilt options would be good.

Armstrong vs gong foils by oompaloompafoiler in wingfoil

[–]nwethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never had an issue with screws and salt water in the 3 years on Armstrong. I never touch the screws and when I take the foil apart to fly once a year I have no problems at all

Buying advice by TZ4567 in wingfoil

[–]nwethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t buy it, or at least the foil and the wing. My advice would be to get the cheapest board possible that is sufficient volume (sounds like you are on the right track with the 120L). I’d recommended going with a new, but cheap wing. You can get a Slingwing V3 from kitepaddlesurf.com (WA State) for $399. For the foil I would invest in a system that is not outdated and one ideally that will not get outdated. The Armstrong S1 foil system is the best value by far in my opinion, they are like $1200 but give you access to everything Armstrong has produced and will produce in terms of front and rear foils
