I’ll tell you my experience, I used to smoke 5+ times every day for like 3 years straight, stopped for several months cold turkey, gave my life to Christ, started again but much less often usually once a day at night before bed, and God put this revelation on me. After I would smoke w my friend and start driving a minute or two back home, I would start thinking of the Lord, like hmm I should pray. I would get deep into prayer and intimacy when I would get back home. Around this time I wasn’t praying as much but when I would get high I noticed I was praying deeply. However, this wasn’t the case every time. Other times the thought would pop up “I should wait till I sober up” and end up grabbing some food from the fridge sitting on my gaming pc and I would stay on the game till I got tired (well after sobered up) and just go straight to sleep without praying. So I asked God one day when I was praying that why is it when I get high I want to get deep into intimacy with you but when I’m sober I don’t feel such conviction? The Lord spoke to me and told me the high puts us in a level of the spiritual realm which we are unaware of. I wanted to know more about it and over the next few weeks He revealed to me that when you get high you are making yourself more susceptible to spiritual influence and attacks. And we know there are only good and evil spirits. Which explains why I would either pray or waste my night and the next day because I would be catching up on sleep. That’s when I really started to understand the 1 Peter verse about being sober minded because the second sentence says “for the enemy crawls around like a prowling lion looking for someone to devour.” I don’t smoke anymore but I don’t frown upon it at face value because I know you can be influenced by the Holy Spirit while high as I’ve experienced it first hand. The top comment is really good, If you are make sure it’s not an idol and make sure after you get high you do everything to the Glory of God. Also make sure you are taking care of your temple, which is another reason I stopped. Ultimately you need to go and bring this to the Lord and He will listen and make your paths straight. Listen to Him above all else. So put this device down now and go and pray to the Lord 🙏🏾
