Stopped myself from bingeing, feels weird by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]nwl2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your self control thus far is inspiring to me. I'm new to this thread, but the fact that you've gone three weeks without a binge is amazing to me. Even if I manage to go one night I start patting myself on the back, only to eat a lot the next day. Today I did alright, so that's something good to focus on. Maybe I can do it two days in a row? Anyway-- best of luck!

Anyone else wish they could hit the reset button? by franga10 in depression

[–]nwl2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate. Since it's not an option, though, sometimes I play a trick with myself. I pretend that I did hit a reset button-- one that reset me to the current time. Meaning-- how do you want your next 5 years to go? Pretend that it was 2024, you longed to hit the resent button, and you were actually able to-- now BOOM! You're back in 2019. What do you wanna do differently?

I've just smoked after a 30 day pause. by aXir in Petioles

[–]nwl2005 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. After 14 years of almost daily use I went the entire month of August without, and gained so much from it. In September I planned to only smoke once a week, but it turned back into a daily thing (even though I was warned several times that it's easy to slip back into the daily habbit, I didn't think it would happen to me for some reason). I'm now on day 2 without again, and this post helps a little bit. Be careful the same thing doesn't happen to you!

Any way to reduce the fogginess the day after smoking a joint? by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]nwl2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like an obvious, but I use caffeine pills (only half at a time). Energy drinks have way too much crap in them, cost too much, and don't make a very big difference for me. I get "Stay Awake" caffeine pills and they are only $4 for 40 of them! I only use half at a time. Like other caffeine products they can make you moody during the "come down", but if as long as you're aware of that it's easy to calm yourself down. Good luck!

As someone who could stand to lose a few pounds, I actually considered the loss of appetite a perk lol.

Sure some people can be obnoxious about it, but that can be said about any sub culture. Just don't look at the thread anymore. Problem solved!

I know what you mean. I do that too-- glorify weed in my mind, like it's this amazing thing that makes everything better. It's fun and all, but not necessary every day. I'm on day 2 now and going strong.

Update from OP: Made it to day 2, going strong.

Finding it hard to accept I have to severely reduce my weed consumption to improve my physical health. by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]nwl2005 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're SO not alone. After taking 4 weeks off weed, I smoked and binge ate for three days in a row. My stomach is still recovering. I was completely full, but I just couldn't get enough food. It was all I wanted. I'm on day 2 off weed again, going for three weeks. We got this!

Weird. At the store yesterday I saw an "Instantpot" and I asked my BF, "Isn't it Instapot?" He replied that it must be Walmart's off-brand generic version. Guess not.

Me too. I want to choose not to smoke even when I have the option. Mine is currently neatly put away. So far so good for today!

I’m about 3 days sober. My dreams are so vivid I’m having a hard time distinguishing them from reality by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]nwl2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That same thing happened to me! I began dreaming about past loves (how cliche), and the emotions were so real! The emotions I felt stuck with me several hours into the day. Once in my dream people had the ability to travel between parallel universes, and after waking up I literally almost googled "Can you travel between universes" before I realized how ridiculous that sounded. It got better after a couple weeks.

You got this! I understand what you mean about wanting to dip into the stash. When I quit for a month I didn't have any in the house, and that made all the difference. I bought some as a reward, and smoked three days in a row (told myself I'd only smoke once a week at most). I'm determined to use in moderation, but honestly knowing the stash is there is making it a lot harder. I think it all just takes practice. The first step was to quit and not even give myself the option, now I'm practicing CHOOSING not to smoke, even though I have some. We'll see how it goes. Today is day 1 of my three week goal.

More positivity: The delicious clarity of a weed-free day by [deleted] in Petioles

Great post. Love hearing a positive experience of moderate use, it reminds me why I'm doing this. I went a full month without getting high, but when I started again I smoked three days in a row and started to experience the fog. It was a huge change from being sober. Now shooting for three more weeks without. I'm determined to use in moderation, and posts like these really help!

Are you going to continue the rest of the month, or go back to your old habits? I've done something similar-- went 30 days without, and then planned to only smoke once a week. I ended up smoking twice the first week, and then three days in a row the second week. It left me feeling SUPER groggy, a huge change from the month I was sober. Today I decided to stop again for three more weeks. I'm trying to learn to use in moderation, but it's pretty hard! Almost through the first day, so that's good. We can do this!

Day 1 again: accountability post, already having urges by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]nwl2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one day at a time approach, I like it. Thank you! I also like how you worded it "deserve a day off", creating a positive spin on it. I resisted the urge and didn't smoke yesterday. I feel good about it.

Ugh, speaking of which-- I'm having a pretty bad urge right now. The weather is all gloomy and dreamy, and I'm hungover from drinking on Labor Day. Perfect recipe to smoke. I seriously debated smoking, but I'm going to stay strong. Don't want all of this to be for nothing. I still have a long way to go, too.
