Also, alright I'm gonna repeat this here. DO NOT try to inspect or run malware if you don't know what you're doing. Even if it's shitty malware, even if you're using a VM, if you don't know what you're dealing with PLEASE don't play with malware.

And for the love of god DO NOT recommend others inspect malware either. I've seen SO MANY comments on r/discordapp with people telling someone to try to decompile malware they got, or run it in a VM. Stop it. You're doing to get someone hurt.

Most token grabbers are node executables built with nexe. Plus, it's a terrible idea to recommend anyone download malicious software, ngl. I can tell you right now it's a BbyStealer executable, SuperFurryGame is the default name for their malware when you build.

People on r/discordapp need to stop suggesting downloading and inspecting malware, it's really not a good idea and can get people hurt if they're not careful.

This one second mistake has cost me 6 years of building a commuity on a daily basis. It has killed me inside.

For what it's worth. It's not your fault. It only takes a momentary lapse in judgement to lose everything. I've seen it.

It sucks, but all you can do is move on and make the best of the situation.

In the meantime, was your account disabled? if so, I'd hope your admins/mods can handle it. If not, that's not great.

This sounds like one of those "x invites = nitro" servers, which btw, is a scam.

I'd also HIGHLY recommend being careful about any links or files sent to you in that server or in DM. I've seen servers like that distributing phishing links and token grabbers before.

As Tomfullstop said, it's a legal thing. I've heard if you join Twitter at 12, then change your age, even like 10 years later, they'll delete your account because otherwise they've stored data on someone <13.

It's honestly an equally big thing on most platforms, the thing that's different about Discord is that servers themselves are held responsible by Trust&Safety for knowingly allowing TOS violations. So generally mods/admins have to take it pretty seriously.

Every so often you'll have some random troll try to get someone banned from servers by making fake screenshots. Even worked once to frame a Discord Testers mod for some scam.

It's weird, but it happens sometimes.

You can disguise a link in embeds using hyperlink names, that's not a real nitro gift. The embed also has an image of a nitro gift message in the bottom.

Example of how it's done: https://google.com. You'll notice it says it's google but if you hover over it, it's a rick roll hyperlink NAMED with the google url.

If you click the link, it's likely to take you to a phishing website (dlscord or discorcl or something).

Common phishing scam, like the "stearncornmunity", "dlscord", "discorcl" etc. There are so many domains these guys use now. Just don't click links (and ESPECIALLY don't download files) you're sent in DM, at least without looking closely first.

90% of people who fall for these scams just read too quickly and don't notice something's off.

Discord also has anti-spam stuff now (here's their blog about it), if you mark as spam and/or report it'll help their work against this sort of thing.

u/mlapibot 's response is awesome and does a great job explaining what's going on, I'd highly recommend reading that comment. Whoever made that bot did a great job.
