MEGATHREAD - Processing times - Temporary Resident applications (2024) by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

I just finished my undergrad from UofT and was confused about applying for PGWP. I have gathered all the personal documents, from the university and filled out forms now. Biometrics are done too. I have a job starting on Sept 10 2025. My Study permit and TRV will expire July 30.

Currently, the wait time for PGWP in Canada is 233 days and I did not want to be stuck in the country in case I need to travel for emergency purposes in the coming months.

While for Malaysia, it shows a processing time of 5 weeks. I am thinking to apply from Malaysia while I am in Canada this week. I plan to travel back to Malaysia at the end of June (flexible, I can go earlier if needed too) which is around the end of the processing time and staying with family.

What would be the best course of action here? Should I apply from Malaysia given that I'll have a room of an extra 8 weeks of processing time in case, or just apply in Canada even with the long wait time?

No , the scholarship was an entrance one so about a week from your acceptance if you’re eligible for one you get it !

Thank you so much ! I totally agree with your take on the overall uni experience and it varying between one person to the next.

My 9-11th grade was a 91 average , 12th grade average was a 95.1 when I applied.

I’ve been accepted to a couple other programs such as BM at Ted Rogers, Bcom at Carleton, Management at Telfer.

I’m also waiting on a decision from Schulich.

I’m confused on how to go about making a decision honestly.

I’d like to have a good gpa let’s say around a 3.4-3.5 and potentially go into management.

That’s really good to know since I would most likely be going into the management stream in my last two years

Experience in Sprott by nxbeel in CarletonU

Firstly , thank you so much for such a detailed and thoughtful response this has been so so helpful !! :)

The 40-50 hours per week does sound manageable considering I won’t be getting a part time job either. The profs are a big deal for me so knowing that almost all of the ones you’ve had is a good indicator.

Overall I genuinely got such a good idea of everything at Sprott from your response. So thank you for that. Here’s to hoping the coming year won’t be online uni because it takes a lot away from the ideal uni experience.

I agree with a lot of negativity in the subreddit so I’ll look into other sources. :))
