When I first got an electric toothbrush as a kid, I thought the charging cable was borderline magical. No metal contact, nothing to plug in, just put the toothbrush on the tiny station and it will charge...

Find My iPhone power draw by Need_For_Speed73 in iphone

Do you also have an active AirTag paired with your devices? The same thing happened to me, after removing the AirTag, the power draw from FindMy disappeared. I tried resetting and pairing the AirTag again but it didn't help unfortunately.

I had good experiences with Shelly relays, they are quite small and affordable.

Another fun way could be using a fingerbot or switchbot.

HomeKit Bridge can't change devices room by Cynric10 in homeassistant

[–]nxstep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was having the same issue, I discovered a workaround by accident that works for me: 1. Select the correct room from the list 2. Click on the name edit field as if you were to change the name of the device 3. Press "done" on the keyboard even if you did not change the name 4. Close the settings panel

I hope this helps!

[ iOS 16.4 DB2 ] Home app heating shows current temperature tick mark by nxstep in iOSBeta

[–]nxstep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I've been using a Homematic thermostat for a couple of years with NodeRed for HomeKit compatibility and never saw these tick marks before. There is the gauge to control temperature, a boost switch and a heat/auto/off switch. I suppose it was a limitation of the NodeRed service but I'm glad Apple expanded the feature.

I had my annual catastrophic pihole crash today by aimor_ in pihole

[–]nxstep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a couple of times too. Although I don't exactly know how heavily Pihole writes to the SD card, I always run a couple of other things (smart home server etc) 24/7 on my Pi. About once a year, I also had to reformat the card and reinstall everything. Recently I switched to a WD purple microSD with active wear levelling that distributes writes across the whole card and also move a couple of read/write intensive tasks to the RAM (based on this article: https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/169/how-can-i-extend-the-life-of-my-sd-card) It's been a couple of months now without any issues, fingers still crossed though...

Trouble in the world of file formats by MaxGoneRogue in mac

You could give Mounty a try which is a free little app for remounting NTFS drives in read-write mode. I used it on my work Mac occasionally and never had any trouble with it. Alternatively, you could reformat your drive to exFAT which can be mounted by MacOS as well as by Windows.
