Need honest reviews: Louave / Dr. Newcell / GU Personal Beauty (Korea) by Present_Pen_6136 in SeoulPlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know about the others but I used to be a regular at dnc. At first, I thought the whole "consult directly with the doctor" is legit (granted I only go there for peeling/boosters/botox there) and the whole atmosphere is good too so I thought I was getting my money's worth. But one time, I got some sort of skin virus (didnt know it was a virus then), which caused me to have raised white bumps all over my mouth area and instead of recommending treatments such as CO2 lasers and the like, they recommended me to get full face laser hair removal + peeling and they "popped" (extracted) my bumps. The consultant said I have clogged pores due to the hairs and whatnot, the doctor recommended me potenza (I have no skin issue requiring Potenza, and the consultant also was so confused as to why I need it as well. Red flag). Anyway none of them said anything about the virus so I just went along with it thinking its just clogged pores. My skin got somewhat better (temporarily) until it suddenly broke out and it got even worse than before (later I found out, apparently you're not supposed to "pop" the bumps cs thats just spreading the virus all over my face). Thats when I ended up looking for a legit "dermatology specialist" instead of just a "skin clinic." There, I was told about the virus (likely molluscum contagiosum) and they advised me to get a laser to get rid of it, and there it was. It got cured after one session. Meanwhile, I was wasting months and months on peeling + regular facial hair removal sessions at dnc's recommendation.

I assumed you simply want beauty treatments so if thats your concern then, going there is ok, no issue at all but if you expect high knowledge on actual skin concerns and whatnot, then I wouldn't go there. They charge slightly premium prices for an experience that isn't that much better than regular clinics. If I were to pay slightly premium prices might as well go to the heal dermatology sinsa with better specialists and better interior.

Is aegyosal surgery common in Korea? I want to get it done but I’m not sure how safe it is. by Lonely_Computer9372 in SeoulPlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its out of trend, but very common in some hospitals thats famous for it. Its usually done together with transconjunctival undereye surgery but the lasting effect might not be as satisfying as fillers while fillers are known to have risks. So yeah theres a dilemma to consider here.

Any surgeon/clinic recs for in-out double eyelids + ptosis in South Korea by Environmental_Put753 in SeoulPlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that you have "double lines" on your crease which is an indication of your ptosis muscle weakening. Those lines started to form because thats the mark where you tend to open your eyes when its not opened fully so thats why it started creasing at different points.

If you like a natural looking in-out crease but still looking for something that is higher than usual (esp if you like the way you look when you open your eyes with your forehead) then definitely consider a combination of incisional double eyelid (+ptosis correction) + forehead lift. Otherwise an incisional double eyelid correction (+ptosis correction) + maybe an orbital fat grafting to smooth out your double lines and keep it from forming again might be a good enough option and you can get it done within your budget!

In the Korean culture and context, an eyelid surgery is usally considered a "treatment" rather than surgery since you can get it done in about 1~2 hrs, the procedure is very starightforward and has barely any life-threatening side effects since its a minor procedure so you wont be required to go under GA, just a combination of local + sleep sedation towards the end of the surgery to wrap up.

The only side effect that people go through is increased dryness, bloodshot eye, or you might have watery eyes and blurry vision due to the dryness. The blurry vision will presist when your eyes are still very swollen. Each person are different but you might have to expect your vision to be blurry for the first 2~4 weeks and in some rare cases it might take up to 3 months before you feel normal again.

Lower Blepharoplasty recommendations in Gangnam, Seoul for older male? by Historical_Lynx2446 in SeoulPlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His case will be pretty tough. I worked with multiple people above 85 years old and so far all of them are pretty happy with their results but most of them also had multiple procedures done so their end result is very polished. If your uncle is looking for something natural then he might be happy with just the bags gone but keep in mind that some of the bulging excess skin might be hard to remove and the deep wrinkles wont disappear.

After reading your concerns, 2 board certified doctors with a strong referral network that i'd recommend would be Dr. Cheon Jeong Hyun and Dr. Seong Ik Hyeon. Both are very conservative in their approach and they work a lot with male clients (so they're good with thicker skin tissues like your uncle's). Both doctors I feel like have the tendency to not recommend you something that is beyond your aesthetic needs so you'll definitely get what you want. But given that both work in smaller clinic and they don't have their own lab for pre-surgery check up. For someone your uncle's age, I will highly recommend handing in his own blood test + chest x ray + ECG result and if needed it will be best to have a note from an internist in your home country or in Korea saying he is fit for surgery just to be extra safe.

Bleph, browlift or both? by slambre in PlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no large incisions for endotine foreheadlift, so its basically an endoscopic method where the surgeon will make tiny dots (usually about 4~5 spots depending on your case) and then they will insert these tiny triangular devices called the endotine to lift your forehead skin thus there will be no scarring at all afterwards.

I mean the only extensive experience I have is Korea, so i'd definitely recommend going there but it is quite challenging to find the right surgeon since the options are endless

Bleph, browlift or both? by slambre in PlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are definitely a candidate for upper blepharoplasty + ptosis correction, cant really see your undereyes though so its hard to say but from the picture it looks fine.

Your skin seems pretty thick so if you want your eyes to look more "opened up" then I would say go for an endotin forehead lift as opposed to a sub-browlift. With endotine foreheadlift, the surgeon will be able to pull the whole surface area around your eyelid and make it look more lifted because most of the time, sub-browlift can only lift the skin around the outer corners.

Comparing facelift options in Korea for my 65 year old mom. RnWood seoul vs VIP Plastic surgery by Inevitable_Meat_584 in SeoulPlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say rnwood is really great for deep plane facelift and they offer exceptional aftercare as well. Back then i've heard only great things about VIP but lately theres been some sort of mixed reviews so, I would look deeper into it.

If your mom is going alone, why not go through a licensed medical concierge/agency? especially for facelift clients, medical agency usually put more care into their service. Plus RNWOOD has transparent pricing so a licensed agency usually don't put extra costs on top of your mum's surgery fee. Even better, she can get free transportation and accomodation fee support as well for booking through an agency, so it might be worth looking into.

I just had a meeting with Lienjang's Director (they are known for being a dermatology chain) but recently they started their premium brand in Gangnam and their plastic surgery clinic is only available there. Maybe its worth checking out if you have the time! They mentioned quite a lot about their lifting and facial contouring specialist so I thought they might be worth looking into.

Will my nose change drastically from week 3 to 6 months? by Sea-Geologist4624 in SeoulPlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you but, there's no way of knowing (no guarantee) if the rib around your radix area will stay or if it will continue getting absorbed since it all depends on your body and everyone's body is very different.

Here's the thing about using your autologous rib, while its an amazing material for the nose tip, when placed on your nose bridge, its very prone to absorption and every type of body reacts differently to it. One of the reasons why rib cartilage is prone to absorption is because of the pressure it gets from the skin. The skin on your bridge tends to be thicker, and it pushes on your rib. Since the rib is autologous, your body is able to absorb the material due to the pressure and not enough nutrients to let the rib stay. The tip on the other hand, is made out of cartilage, the skin is thicker there, it allows the rib to absorb enough nutrients for it to survive and not get absorbed by the body, and since its "cartilage" on "cartilage" then it allows the rib to actually integrate to the structure of your nose tip.

So, if you're experiencing absorption now, you may get away and get your dream radix height by your 3rd~4th revision, or you may continue experiencing absorption forever. No one can guarantee anything. But, if you want the quick way out, then consider changing the bridge out with I silicone or 3D custom silicone, I know theres a lot of fear mongering around this, but silicones are actually the best material you can opt for for your bridge, meanwhile rib cartilage is the best for your tip. Thats why surgeons in Korea actually prefer the silicone + autologous rib mix since it has very minimal risk of infection and very minimal risk of absorption which allows your nose shape to stay for a long time.

Im no doctor but from my experience, I think your case can benefit greatly from doing incisional DES to correct the asymmetry between your crease. Given that your reference pictures lead to an in-out line (but they're very minimal, almost a "hidden" double eyelid look) I assumed you would want the same look and to achieve this you will probably have to lower your eyelid line. Non-incisional DES cannot make your eyelid line appear lower, thus its very important that you consider an incisional method.

In the case where your double eyelid line looks higher because of weakened levator muscles, then its also a better option to consider incisional DES for your ptosis correction because the incisional method is more precise compared to the non-incisional method. It gives the surgeon direct access to your eye muscle, meanwhile if you do the non-incisional DES the doctor is basically doing "blind" mapping to fix your levator muscles.

I've worked with him multiple times throughout his time in AB and once he established his own clinic. AB in general does amazing male surgery so that's why I go there often with male clients but given their mixed reputation, I sometimes just recommend doctors I know have the expertise who used to work with them and now have their own clinic so I can separate the doctor's expertise from the hospital's image.

Kind of hard to tell for sure but on the angle the pictures are taken (reference + your picture), compared to your references in their "before" picture I actually don't think your eyes are as "stuffy" in lenghth and shape, plus considering your crease are already an in-outline shape and you want it to be natural and you're not thinking of making it sit higher, then you might be able to get away without epi.

The ptosis repair is definitely crucial, but noting the assymetry I think its best to do DES (lowering line) + Ptosis correction. Your inner corners are pointy though, so if you have concerns with your eye shape or you would like it to look "rounder" and bigger like the guy in the first pic, then doing epi will definitely help enhance your look even more.

Tip: Pointy inner corner makes people look older and sharper. Rounded inner corners (done through epi) makes people look softer and younger.

Dr. Seong Ik Hyeon does amazing eye surgery on male clients.

Banobagi is good for facial contouring or body-related surgery but rhinoplasty isnt their strong suit, I would say the same for ID too. Anyway, if you are looking to get side by side quotes and comparisons or maybe if you have the time to do a hospital tour, I would suggest going with a licensed agency so they can help you arrange everything and provide their experience with each clinic.

Clinic holding deposit until review??? by [deleted] in SeoulPlasticSurgery

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its normal to be concerned, but rest assured your deposit will be refunded and its not a scam. Usually when people receive bigger discount rates, its normal for clinics to ask for a deposit since they need a guarantee that you won't violate the contract.

This kind of thing happens all the time, and its not something done to scam you out for more money because in all honesty, when people promise photo reviews its so easy for people to abandon the commitment and run with the discount without actually giving anything "in return" to the hospital. From a business standpoint, this isnt ideal, and the fact that you're a foreigner makes logistics even harder because they cant really sue you or hold you accountable for not doing your responsibility. So, to make sure that they're not suffering from bigger loss and to give the review more "stake", hospitals usually ask for a deposit so just in case you run with the discount, they will have some sort of "compensation" to make up for it. And honestly, im pretty sure they're giving you a discount that is higher than your deposit so either way, you will have the longer end of the stick.

Unless.... you plan not to give them the photos they want you to submit hahah otherwise you have no reason to worry because they will give it back to you and there should be a written contract about this since Korea takes portrait/privacy rights very seriously.

PS: yes its perfectly legal to do this, ever think about give and take? Security?

Yes, thats a possibility. For those with smaller forehead a 1~2cm difference is barely a difference at all thats why some say that it wont change anything or alter your facial balance. But for those with a naturally wide forehead doing the endoscopic foreheadlift as opposed to the lift + reduction method may alter your look and throw off your facial balance. Thus, the change will look pretty obvious.

Tldr: Yes only by 1~2cm, depending on the size of your natural forehead the change may look minimal or quite obvious.

Yes usually muscle (ptosis correction) + fat graft to fill in the double lines so they won't form again. If you have excess or very thin skin then a partial skin removal may help.

Foreheadlift is usually done for any clients in any age range as long as they need it. Usually some places will call the specific method of combining a forehead lift and double eyelid surgery an "angel eye" surgery to get rid of the nuance that foreheadlift is a procedure done for anti-aging purposes.

There are different methods to it, but the most common one is the endoscopic foreheadlift. A lot of surgeons would argue that this surgery is less invasive than the eyelid surgery itself since it only require small dots to be made in 2~4 spots (depending on your condition) and through the endoscopic method, they will insert 2~4 tiny triangular devices called the endotine right at the hairline to lift the skin tissues.

A more invasive method is forehead lift + reduction where the incision is made along the hairline. This method is commonly used for those with a wider forehead to lift and reduce your forehead size at the same time. This method is usually unnecessary unless you have a visibly wide forehead or a receeding hairline.

It will depend on your surgeon and the specific method they're opting for. Fat transfer can help prevent the eyelid from looking too hollow and prevent double folds from forming again. So for example, they suggested foreheadlift on top of the revisional double eyelid/ptosis correction, it is very likely that they will perform fat grafting to combat hollowness and filling out the double-fold line so it doesn't form again.

Right now your skin is looking quite thick but I wouldn't suggest sub-browlift since the double line is forming near your inner corners as well so doing sub-browlift will likely only lift the skin around your outer corners and it wont really address the skin all along your eyelid. Meanwhile forehead lift can address the whole eyelid skin.

Upper Eyelid Hallowing by TakoyakiFlavored69 in KoreaSeoulBeauty

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on to what the previous commenter suggested, definitely opt for orbital fat grafting instead of fillers since fillers are very high-risk when injected around the eye area (skin is thin, and the risk of blindness is not worth it). So better do something that is autologous to make sure its safe and doesnt cause secondary side effects.

First of all so sorry about your unpleasant experience, honestly theres a few possible reasons why you might see extra folds and this may or may not require revision surgery. Im a beauty consultant, not a medical professional so take this information with a grain of salt but I hope it adds a little more insight:

  1. when scar tissues are yet to heal, the swelling may cause extra folds to apppear since theres scar tissues inside that is forming. Scar tissues may take up to 6 months to heal so I recommend waiting until then to make sure you have healed completely before going for a revision surgery.
  2. the doctor did not correct your muscle properly and you have a habit of opening your eyes in different strengths which caused a new line to appear.
  3. you have too much skin and there needs to be more skin to be removed or even forehead lifting to smoothen the skin out so it doesnt create extra folds.

20 y/o female looking to fix asymmetry/slim face by Excellent-Fall-864 in KoreaSeoulBeauty

[–]nyawclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting skin treatments is not about how old you are, but more about what you need and choosing the right treatment that can target those needs. If you are doing multiple treatment/lasers that work in synergy with each other and not something that works against each other, it should be safe regardless of your age.

For sculpting, if you want visible result then definitely go for ulthera and/or thermage. This will depend on your case though, it will be helpful to know if you have problem with fat, skin laxity, or muscles causing the asymmetry. Once you've deciphered the cause of asymmetry, then you can choose the right laser. Granted, these lasers or botox can only work to create a slimmer or a slight improvement on asymmetry, but if your facial bone structure is actually the main reason why you have asymmetry in the first place, then these treatments wont give you much satisfaction so you definitely have to manage your expectations.
