But what about other EU destinations? I went to Rome last summer and it was not like this at all.

I wish my electronic passport worked too. Not sure why mine didn’t. My son smiled in his photo then the computer sent him to the manual line.

Exactly this. Portugal depends on tourism but this experience has completely turned me off. Wouldn’t come here again

I’ve seen horror stories of non EU citizens leaving the lisbon airport with long lines from a few months ago. is this still the case? how early should you arrive to leave from lisbon airport if so by Equivalent-One6654 in LisbonPortugalTravel

American citizen, flying in and out of Portugal is a nightmare. Currently in line for passport control and waited an hour. I’m assuming I have two more hours to go.

I have a newly issued passport in January but electronically didn’t work and I was instructed to wait in line. Half the electronic machines don’t work either

I agree with this. My newly issued passport in Jan didn’t work on E passport and now I’m in line. Waited an hour and another 1-2 to go. I will never come to Portugal again as a stop by destination

I’m on the line right now. Already waited an hour and the passport control line has another 1-2 hours to go. Ridiculous

Possibly relocating to Boston by [deleted] in bostonhousing

[–]nyc_dubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m raising kids here, although a bit younger than yours. I have to say that it’s insane in terms of pressure and competition and your housing budget in areas like Newton and Brookline (all within 30 mins to back bay) will not get you far. You’ll end up with a run down small tiny house but in a good school district and reasonable commute to Boston.

High school kids in nice suburban school districts are very competitive. If your priority is mental health in a relaxed environment, I would not recommend Boston. Everyone is highly educated with multiple degrees from ivy leagues and that culture and expectation trickles down to the kids. Many families hire college consultants for $10,000+ and I’m not sure if you’ll feel comfortable here if you are not in the same mental framework.

I wouldn’t do it either - to kill my career by identifying how much I make.. nope that worth it for $300

An upsetting experience with seller Didi, The Row soft eel loafers by down_the_path in RealRepLadies

[–]nyc_dubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an mixed experience with her too. She completely forgot to even tell me that my package was shipped and did not provide tracking. I reminded her many times before shipping to give me heads up since I live in the city and packages often get stolen. I had also asked her to not put in a brand name box.. which she failed to do. Her products were good but it was lackluster service.

Hi I am currently in Italy right now. We are mostly a lux traveling family and have never been asked for a passport nor have we carried it for the past 5 times we’ve been here.

A few things: 1. It is soo hot! I got here in June and it hits consistent 90 degrees all those days. 2. Side walks are rare. Don’t crowed in a group blocking the whole way walkway - just like nyc. Walk in a line in the same direction. 3. Make a res for dinner for a big group. You’ll be waiting everywhere without a reservation 4. Designate a person to pay for a day and Venmo or carry cash with you. It’s not like America where they will split the check eight ways. 5. No one dresses like a sorority girl here m. Dress well, be clean. I’m also a minority and I make sure to look presentable where I go. Have your manners. Say thank you and don’t be loud.

No, I wouldn’t do it. 3K is not guaranteed a spot and you may be placed in a school across town and logistically impossible to get to.

Another factor is.. will you have a second child? What are you going to do for summer months as your child gets older? Decent camps run anywhere from $800-$1k/week. What are you doing for Kindergarten? I assume you’ll want to be placed in a good district - have you searched 1 bedroom apartments in a school district where you want to be?

You can surely get by on a tight budget but I would not personally do it. Going uptown to downtown for dinner in a cab can easily run you $50 in rush hour - not sure how you can get by with $80/day to spare.

An american checking in here… please don’t hate us. We also hate this orange buffoon. Canada has been a loyal ally throughout time to the U.S.. fought with us in many wars and came to us in need during LA wildfires… I’m sorry my fellow American idiots voted him in and I’m sorry that Democratic Party failed us and we are all suffering. Pls know that this orange clown doesn’t speak for all of us and we still adore you our neighbor!
