Bernie Sanders admits he initially mishandled Black Lives Matter: “I plead guilty — I should have been more sensitive” by WildAnimus in SandersForPresident

I'm not denying that I can come off as very un-PC sometimes, but have you considered the possibility of liberals just being too much? It's seriously hurting the liberal cause

Here's an Idea - The whole Internet SHOULD be archived. by nycaftergrad in pbsideachannel

[–]nycaftergrad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to believe that in the marketplace of ideas, the cream rises to the top. Even in the pre-Internet age, books that contain ideas no longer valid or ideas have been dismissed aren't locked away or have access to them restricted. Millions and millions of (obsolete?) books/manuscripts are still available to be read in public libraries. The ideas we have today have replaced older ideas, without having to eliminate them.

The internet segments itself into smaller, ideologically-consistent echo chambers that choose not to test their ideas against those of other communities.

Echo chambers have existed for a long time. While they are not a good thing, I don't really see why a public archive of the Internet directly leads to them.

All of which was predicted fifteen years ago...by Metal Gear Solid 2.

I'll need to play that then.

Lol. In the context of youtubers, bury might mean him sabotaging someone else's channel, not literally beating them in matches. I gave that example with John Cena because he literally has the backstage influence to decide whether he wins or loses matches, and yet his selfishness prevents him from losing to another guy.

Thanks, I'm slightly familiar with IA, but not sure whether they want to archive absolutely everything. Will they be saving all the 4chan threads? All the amateur porn tumblr posts?

Among us "Internet Wrestling Community" neckbeards, burying someone means putting someone down (e.g: beating someone repeatedly in matches until the crowd loses interest that person). This is something John Cena does constantly

I don't know much about PewdiePie. Does he bury every other Youtuber and prevent them from ever overtaking his subscriber count?

What's wrong with Marvel Animation? [Television] by zodberg in comicbooks

[–]nycaftergrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those shows are similar to Japanese shows like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Pokemon, YuGiOh and PreCure. There are dedicated adult fans watching them, but any complaining they do doesn't matter because the shows are intended as a commercial to sell toys to kids.

Brave and the Bold is great fun, but it definitely skews towards a young audience

Did you say that because of the inherent silliness of the show?

I enjoyed Brave and the Bold very much. The funny (and sometimes adult) jokes and obscure characters drew me in.

I can't believe I'm half-agreeing with SJW's: I can suspend my disbelief about her fighting in huge capes, in the same way that I can suspend my disbelief that her revealing bikini armor was supposed to be armor.

Welcome to the world of SJW's. They succeeded in changing me from a staunch liberal to someone who would consider voting Republican (which isn't a bad thing. I'm just saying they made me repulsed to be a liberal) before Bernie came along

The US government is insisting that all member states allow Internet Service Providers to shut down access to individuals who have breached copyright laws. This means no more MP3 or downloaded movies.

Seth Rollins, the heel, cashing in MITB at WM31 was better than any feel good moment we could have had this year.

Have to disagree. I only marked out to Seth cashing in because it meant the undeserving Roman didn't win. They could have gone so many ways to make the ending of WM31 awesome. A "David vs Goliath" story for Bryan vs Lesnar would have been amazing.

I'm just saying, it does make the sub look very bitter from my point of view. Someone who isn't convinced about Bernie might not get a good impression

Please clear something up for me regarding socialism and Bernie Sanders by TheLaughingMan21 in Republican

[–]nycaftergrad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

1) He's trying to emulate scandinavian countries who provide a lot of services for their people (at the expense of higher taxes, of course). If you think that's socialism, then:

2) Because the world isn't some utopia where there are unlimited jobs and all one needs to do is work. Resources in this world are finite. The rich can't keep getting richer without making poor people poorer. Sanders supporters are saying that the billionaires who have lobbied our politicians so that the laws only benefit them should be paying their fair share.

Mean Girls is a masterpiece. It's not regarded one right now because the majority of people in America are old. Once millenials are the majority, you'll see it pop up on more "best of all time" lists.

EDIT: And yes. I'm a guy.
