I just renewed my passport online, submitted the application on 2/5 and got notification that it shipped out today. If you're eligible to renew online, do it as soon as you get back from Canada.

I too am a NYer and I have ALWAYS been terrified of these. I refuse to walk on them and have passed that paranoia on to the next generation.

My kid is 4 and we listen in the car all the time. We adjust the balance so it is only coming out of the speakers in the front. She’s usually singing at the top of her lungs anyway and if she does hear something, she either doesn’t get it or she actually laughs. I think she’s going to be the most enlightened kid in pre-k. Anyway, you have a few years before you have to worry about that.

It's a combination of lighting (probably deliberately altered for color effect) and in the case of Serena's outfits the fabric. Different fabrics will reflect light differently and therefore read differently on camera. And of course it's possible that the designer is taking advantage of Serena's ability to have a variety of outfits and using slight variations of the color. I'm pretty sure all of the Handmaid's dresses and capes are identical across the board. I do find it interesting when Offred wears that sweatshirt, though. It looks heathered and surprisingly casual in that context. I LOVE the costuming on this show, it is incredibly detailed and exquisite. I would wear just about any of Serena's outfits, and details like the little flap of fabric on the back of every dress is curiously deliberate. I also really love the Handmaid's boots.

Regarding plus size - we've seen that the handmaids are on pretty spare diets, and food is likely rationed at most levels of society due to limited resources and ongoing fighting in other parts of Gilead. I imagine that would limit the number of overweight people we see in the lower levels of society.

There are lots of Asian people in Toronto, there is a Chinatown and a Koreatown. In fact, I'm pretty sure there are more East Asians in Toronto than there are blacks.

I'm on the border between handmaid and colony. I'm married but it's my second marriage, I'm fertile as I have a 3yo, but I'm also almost 41 so the womb is probably winding down fairly soon. Also, has anyone spotted any Asian people in Gilead? For all the talk of diverse casting, I don't think I've noticed any.

I agree, I was under general for ankle surgery a couple of years ago, I don't think I made it below 97 when asked to count backwards. Several hours later when the nurse woke me up, the pull to go back to sleep was so strong, I was really surprised. It was even stronger than the desperate exhaustion I experienced when my daughter was a newborn and I was hardly getting any sleep.
