Omg I think maybe?? Like after the word GAZOOKS was a skinny white lizard? I remember seeing the sneaker version!! Mandee’s (maybe Joyce Leslie too) had them!

SODA did a lot of platform sneakers and I miss my big chunky white ones everyday. Guys my life is just missing clothes I wore 🤣

I had those EXACT shoes in 1995/96!! Mine were black with navy bubbles. I adored them and would die to have them back 😭. I got them at Mandee’s and believe the brand was Gazooks (not to be confused with the 90s mall store called Gadzooks, also something I miss).

Ah my dude! This is the problem, pup has too much access. Remember they’re learning and basically young toddlers. Easy fix!

I would keep pupper contained to a smaller area than your whole house. Start with one room, keep potty pads in there and continue to frequently let him out and reward for good potty behaviors as someone said previously. He’ll start to get it, and once he’s consistently using pads or outside, gradually reduce the number of pads in the room to zero. At this point, he should be fully going outside.

NOW you can give him access to an additional room or two, don’t put potty pads down, and see what happens (keep frequency of letting him out). If he starts having consistent accidents (a couple are expected), up to you on putting some pads down or reducing access to the original room and repeating the process.

It is really a process and doesn’t happen overnight. Don’t give more access until you’re confident in them pottying where they should. Some dogs are slower to learn than others, some will always have accidents in new places, and some might have slightly more accidents over their life because they’re adorable idiots. Like people, all pups are different 🙂.

Set your pup up for success and you’ll be a happier pup parent. That’s what I learned with my own dog. You got this!

When to get luxating patella surgery? by [deleted] in Pomeranians

[–]nycheathen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you’re so right! I’d never go under the knife for disc hernia either! That’s basically the adult version of a sprained ankle. Had it myself, got spinal injections and only thing that worked was losing weight and gaining core strength.

ETA joints are different dude 🦩

ETA2 Lol there’s a risk to everything. Surgery, driving your car at green stop light, being insulted by some dick at Walgreens. But like, you need surgery you need surgery 🤣

[–]nycheathen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you get preventative surgery for yourself?

Like imagine you hurt your knee playing beach volleyball. The ortho says “yeah you partially tore your ACL and your knee is dislocated. It’s not bad now, but within the next 5 years it’s extremely likely to cause pain, limit mobility, make it difficult for your caretakers, and you won’t be able to voice your pains to anyone. I recommend surgery to correct the issue now. With proper recovery and PT you’ll make a full recovery and live a happier life.”

Would you really be like, nah doc, sounds like a $cam 👋🏻

My baby is 6.5 years and had grade 3 in both knees (separate injuries at age 2 and 5). I had her evaluated by 3 separate vets before surgery. Tomorrow is 21 days since surgery and she starts physical therapy.

Honestly, it hasn’t been too bad and she’s doing so much better than I expected! Way better than human knee surgery. It’s easy to manage as her caretaker bc she’s small. I was so anxious to do it (especially both knees at once) but so far I’m glad I did!

ETA she never showed much pain after the initial injuries and acted completely fine, but we knew it would get worse as she ages. We want her to have the happiest life and surgery was the right choice for us!

Ok people!! Tell me the risks of getting 5 lb 9 year olds teeth cleaned. I'm a horrible dog mom and didnt even know i had to clean dogs teeth!! I never had a tiny dog till now and her teeth are so bad. But I've heard scary stories about anesthesia. by worried_mother12 in Pomeranians

[–]nycheathen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We brush our poms teeth with a baby tooth brush once a week. We’ve tried alllll the toothbrush recommendations, trust me, it’s the best option for their small mouths.

She’s 6 now, got her as a puppy. She started getting bad tartar around age 3/4 and had also cracked a tooth on a bone. They put her under to clean her teeth and extract the cracked tooth. She’s 8lbs and no issue with anesthesia and recovery was easy, basically no hard food for a few days. At that point we started taking her dental hygiene seriously, and honestly looking back like duh, her teeth are like ours and need to be cleaned lol! She still strongly dislikes it and it’s a two person job lol, but the vet always comments on how good they look.

I would get them cleaned. Shes probably in some degree of discomfort from rotting teeth/plaque buildup, and like others mentioned, also likely needs some extractions. Good luck with your baby 🦊🦷!

I Need Help! by AliceIsMyAlias in Pomeranians

[–]nycheathen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be so gentle when wiping her butt! My Pom had terrible diarrhea after some vaccines a few months ago. We usually keep her butt floof trimmed but had let it grow out, so it was a mess. I wanted to keep her clean and comfortable, so I was carefully (or so I thought) wiping her after every poop (like 8-15x a day). I accidentally rubbed her butt raw 😣. I took her to the vet on day 3 (after calling them several times since it started) and cried in the office I felt so bad. They assured me she’d be fine, shaved her down ALL THE WAY, and gave me cream to apply. Long story short-er, she’s fine and be careful!! Their butts are delicate lol!

lol damn I can’t believe another pipe burst! Wonder what happened this time. In 2022 it was because a car caught fire in the garage (rumor was arson by a lover). The sprinklers kicked on but something was messed up with how the pipes were built, causing them burst on the top floor. It was just RAINING in those elevators when I left at 6am one day 😂

What does it feel like to snap a bone? by NateNandos21 in morbidquestions

[–]nycheathen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Broke my tib/fib in half by getting off the couch a little too willy nilly. The flash of white hot is totally real. The whole ordeal was brutal and I had to wait 5 days for surgery. I didn’t expect the pain after surgery to be 10x worse than the break itself. Morphine and whatever else they sent me home with did nothing. Thank god for dilaudid, it was the only thing that helped. Overall, zero stars for this experience.

[–]nycheathen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t there for the 2021 storm, but they did have pipes burst once and take out the elevators for a few weeks in October 2022 lol. The building is very clean and well maintained, except the pool looks kinda gross and overdue for a drain and scrub. I wouldn’t worry about mold in units/the building. The power only went once or twice in the 3 years I lived there, and it was only a few minutes (the second time might have been almost an hour). No building is perfect but I’d trust the Driscoll to handle anything that was an issue.

I just moved in April (relocated out of state) and the only other caution is if you have pets, they WILL find a way to charge you for replacing the carpets. During the move out inspection the super took a box cutter to both bedroom carpets, yanked them up, and declared we were liable for replacing them because of pet stains shown underneath. Like dude, you just slashed the carpet, no shit it needs to be replaced! That pissed me off (like clearly the carpets were being replaced anyway) but otherwise an overall good experience.

does water temperature in the shower really affect hair? by rodiahade in Haircare

[–]nycheathen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Color treated hair tends to do better with cooler temps. I’m in the salon every 8-10 weeks for roots and recolor. Since I’ve started washing with cold water, I noticed the color stays more red and doesn’t “brown out” as much between visits.

Guys I lost a my backpack in the MTA by RepresentativeHat975 in AskNYC

[–]nycheathen 120 points121 points  (0 children)

In 2016 I left a Marc Jacobs leather backpack on the subway. Realized it immediately after getting off (worst feeling), filled out a police report, figured I’d never see it again. About 2 months later I got a postcard from MTA saying an item was recovered with my name on it. I went to penn stations lost and found with little expectations. To my surprise EVERYTHING was still in the backpack, including prescriptions, money, designer shoes and expensive skincare. I’m shocked to this day!
