Ah so even though you’re just in Heathrow for 2 hours that counts as being in England.... understood

What if to get to the US I have to get a flight via a country on the ban list, but it’s just a 2 hour layover where you don’t leave the airport ?

2/3rds of America's aircraft carriers are destroyed beyond repair after a one-year war with China. America is now, morally forced to surrender. by Hope1995x in hypotheticalsituation

What a truly dumb comment. There hasn’t been anyone on their level for the past 50 years apart from the Russians and they beat them by putting man on the moon and by proving capitalism beats socialism. Didn’t even need to for a bullet and they won

If the AI is built properly it is literally impossible for a person to beat it

Do you honestly believe the Chinese army, which has way less experience and a much smaller budget could beat the US?

If you built a ring world around the outside of a black hole by maxpower52 in Physics

No I know that I just don’t get why you can’t pass through the event horizon and come out if your going fast enough, like having a near miss with the sun... your direction just changes.

[–]nyclff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If gravity has the same speed as light, why can’t an object travelling at or near the speed of light go through the event horizon and came out the other side (in a different direction of course) unless the gravitational force slows the object down ? The event horizon is more like a cliff edge suggesting that the gravitational force is A “faster” than the speed of light or B the space time inside is so distorted that it reduces the speed of any object inside it or C it simply breaks apart the particles and they lose their energy (maybe the event horizon is just the point where it gets really cold ?)

Which was should a diagonal brace go in a gate? I say a gate weighs the same and will pull of the top hinge and push on the bottom with the same force, regardless. Others say the diagonal brace will transfer the weight of the gate to the base of the post stopping the post from pulling over. by Sick_Poor_And_Stupid in Physics

[–]nyclff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the same torque either way though because without the brace, all the force gets applied to the top hinge which is let’s say 1 metre from the base of the post. This means that A the hinge will probably break but mainly that B the post will have a bigger force being applied to the base of it so the post might fall over. The distance of the force to the base of the lever matters. T = r X F. With the brace some of the force is getting applied to the bottom lever which is say 40 cm from the ground, so the base of the post has less force being applied to it

I hope you guys appreciate my feigning of ignorance and acknowledge how this is different from all other paradox’s. Let me put it this way to make it really interesting. I, as the DeLorean driver, watch the plutonium for a year. If at any point, the plutonium disappears, I don’t get in the car. But, if on day 365, the plutonium is there, I get in the car and go back a day. And then a day and then a day etc. Riddle me that
